YN Editorial: Tha Crossroads

Game, Game, go away. Please come back another day. Ha. Seriously, I shrug when talk of Chuck Taylor comes up. (Does he still call himself that anymore? Oh well. Insert shrug.) Mr. Miller has done a thankless and tireless job of keepin’ you up to date with dude’s stop-and-go path to album number four. But now with a legit single with Pharrell (“It Must Be Me“) and a mixtape droppin’ on Monday, am I really supposed to get excited… again?

It wasn’t always this way. I used to be a big Game fan. Back when he and Curtis were first beginning their doomed partnership, I did a big all-Aftermath-everything cover which Dr. Dre insisted his young protege be a part of. Took me two seconds to agree. I even declared him the next one in the editorial. He proved me correct with The Documentary. Yeah 50 was the engine, but Jayceon masterfully pushed the whip. Runnin’ over the comp and capitalizing off a buzz that West Coast hip-hop hadn’t witnessed since Snoop was too shook to look into the camera.

The soap opera around his sophomore album, Doctor’s Advocate didn’t stop him from delivering another stellar release. If you closed your eyes through the sonic ride, no one couldn’t convince you Dre wasn’t boppin’ his head in the studio and tweakin’ the knobs. Shit, “Compton” even had me diggin’ Will.I.Am for a quick minute. (There’s a Scratch cover somewhere that proves that.) Although not as consistent as his debut, adversity was met with great art. Case closed.

I don’t really know much about L.A.X. I was preparing to launch Rap Radar by the time that shit finally dropped. Although Game was still gettin’ a gang of mag covers in 2008, any magic behind the project seemed gone. “Game’s Pain” made me chuckle. So did the “retirement” talk. I liked the Travis Barker shit but it’s hard to get excited about an album who’s best song is built off a random Birdman album track.

So suffice to say, Game’s career is in need of a big comeback. Guess that camel hunting crusade didn’t work when Hov dropped another classic on you, lil buddy. Ha. Seriously, let me download this “400 Bars” shit. I got a lil time to kill before I take the wife to that Ice Cube screening. My pal Al told me it was hot. Not. Hey, a rap expert can get his feelings hurt thinkin’ he’s got all the answers. I can claim to know it but you may know it instead. Maybe the dark horse in the 2010 rap race wears red.

  4. Dope87 says:

YN, the editorials are dope. Makes RR stand out even more.

    ===================

BP3 was hot dog water. One of Jay-Zs weakest albums. Apart from 1 or 2 tracks that shit is mad weak. Especially for Jay-Z.

Game might catch a serious commercial brick. The fact that he is now signed to Aftermath/Interscope means his career might slowly wither away (See Bishop Lamont, Stat Quo …..).

Aftermath is a coffin unless ur Dre, Em or 50.

  5. BK says:

Come on YN, you know you’re wrong for calling BP3 a classic. Then again I’ve always said that the word ‘classic’ is thrown around like confetti in hip hop.

  6. gerold says:

    YN BP3 was str888 garbage….

Game’s mixtape will get more spin than BP3 and I am not a big fan of Mr. Bipolar AKA Game, and I rank Jay-z in the top 5 dead or a live status..

But lets keep it real, Game still has some fire I can’t say the same for Hova..

Red Album will definitely be better than BP3 trust..

  7. dannidavito says:

for the record there was nothing classic about BP3, niggas been stopped playin the album and went “on to the next!” lol

  8. dannidavito says:

oh yeah i like Game, he just needs to stop saying stupid shit and stay focused

  9. SilkCityP says:

    BP3 a classic?
    yellow nigga please…

  14. Don Rico says:

YN, seriously there is nothing classic about BP3…..If it was reviewed in the Source back when I had a subscription, it woulda got 3 1/2….maybe 4 Mics…..as for Game, you are dead right. His career is definetly at a crossroads, as all his Mic deficencies now shine thru…..for Game to have a solid run, he needs to sound fresh and inspired, not tired and boring

    More YN Convo on Here

  15. pissed says:

Game needs to just focus on being a MC & quit trying to build his career of of his beefs no one cares about…dudes proved he can spit & make dope records when he’s in the zone but all this dumb 50/G unit/Yukmouth/Tila Tequila high school drama BS is takin him out of that zone. If he was smart when he left G-unit he should have addressed it once in a song like Cube did after he left NWA then kept it movin.

  16. murK says:

Watch yourself YN….Game will ether you. You’re affiliations with shady/50 don’t help.

  17. LKing says:

^Please thats bull, journalists can say whatever they want..Game is just MAD sensitive. If he was in 50’s shoes after BISD came out he would of killed himself because “these niggas ain’t strong enough” to cope with the criticism.

  18. Fat Boy says:

Keep it up YN good job bro

  19. DG says:

SMH at the only thing people taking away from this editorial is that YN said the word classic when referring to BP3. This will only piss Game off more cuz even in an editiorial all about him, all people are talking about is Jay-Z

  20. hotbox says:

I’m feeling these YN editorials, but LAX > BP3

  21. Oldman says:

Soundin like an old man now..

t first the ed. about shyne was cool because that shit was a hot topic of the blog hoppers of how much the new voiice of shyne sucks ass.. i mean it does.. we all know this.. and even tho shyne says he doesnt want to go back to the old days.. he got paid(see lil wayne “Down” and Lil wayne “let it rock”) so why should he care about what we think?

But now it seems your saying you YOUNG KIDS get off MY LAWN.. seriously you got your robe and a 5 oclock shadow on when you are typing these things? Ill admit i cant talk on the gangstar stuff because rap that was 94 and prev. is kinda lost on me.. I dont really like too much of it and i group it together as a whole.. supposed pioneers sure yeah.. but music that still get spins in my head phones.. NO.. my first CD was a RUN-DMC greatest hit collection of tunes.. that and Green Day “dookie” my dad said he wanted me to be diverse in what i listened too..

Come on hatin on the game? really? dude has been a constant on the mic with songs that have meaning and potray a life of struggles basically what real rap should be about.. sure some rim talk and whatever but hasnt really sold out ala lil wayne(rebirth every pop single on the radio that he is featured on), jay-z(BP3), rick ross(hasnt really sold out but just exploits the rap game for money and teaches kids that its ok to tell lies on wax just for money) Jim Jones(Ballin), Ludacris(battle of the sexes)

So really,.. PLEASE.. do editorials on the bums that I mentioned in that last paragraph.. because they are who are helping kill the rap game so quickly..

::sidebar:: I have hopes for Lil wayne and “the bomb” aka C4..

UNLESS its full of kevin rudolph features ester dean non sense.. uhh.. that dude who sings that down song.. colin munroe songs.. or mr. hudson features..

  22. mmkayy says:

Jay neva had a classic since Black album.. FACT

  23. dashing says:

I’ll choose to assume that he meant that Jay dropped a commercially successful and critically acclaimed album in BP3 not a classic, so as not to get derailed by a minor point of the overall editorial..

YN is right. Doctor’s Advocate was dope. One could say Game did it all on his own without Em, 50 and Dre, but that would be a bit misleading. He got Hi Tek, DJ Khalil, Scott Storch and JR Rotem to do production on there and Dre definitely had some hand in makng that happen since they’re his go-to production team or were at some point.. LAX was not great. It wasn’t horrible, but it was not very good either. And recently there have been a lot of real wack tracks that he leaked (Big Money, Shake, Tun Off the Lights, that lame autotune joint that they originally said nicki Minaj was on).

I’m hoping he can step it up. Having Dre and Pharrell behind the boards sounds good on paper. We shall see.

  24. Post no billz says:

    Agreed..lovin’ the ediotorals

  25. CantGetRight says:

Lol @ yall getn mad cause he said BP3 was a classic. He always mentions Jay just to rile you up and yall fall for it everytime.smh
But on topic, Game should just fall back like September.

  26. thebullfrog24 says:

LOL @ all the BP3 haters out there acting like the album wasn’t even good. i’m not saying it was a classic either but its probably his 4th best album. after the classics reasonable doubt, black album and blueprint (no order).

I agree 100% with this article..i use to love game when he first came out. could you imagine what would of happen if the whole g-unit ..minus tony yay-ho would of been if they would of stayed together. i don’t even like 50 but 50 and game definately brought out the best of each other lyrically

  27. CantGetRight says:

Oh and out of the old g-unit, Buck is KILLIN all of them niggas musically right now! Dude been droppin straight heat for like the past yr but for sum reason RR doesnt post his shit….

  28. getmoney says:

I enjoyed BP3 but its no classic.

  32. p. dom says:

yn, good editorial once again, but to call ”the blueprint 3” a classic reeks of supreme stanleyness. that album was decent at best. get up offa dat bullshit.

  33. Gordon B. says:

Calling LAX trash and BP3 a classic all in the same editorial…thought you had a taste for music but guess you don’t.
LAX was by no means a very good album but it was a solid effort and it had a very nice banger on it (Dope Boys) and LAX Files and My Life which are very good songs while BP3 has 2 decent radio songs that I can’t front on but the rest is garbage, no excuses.
I’m not the biggest Jay-Z fan around but hell I expected at least a decent album from him, calling it a classic is just bullshit, you can’t really believe it yourself?
10 years from now you wont even remember the name of the album you’ll be like “Shit what’s that album called, the one that came after American Gangster?”

  34. John Gotti says:

YN! Get off Hov’s dick and go suck on Solar’s…payola journalism! Shouts to Flex!

    Drake is overrated Btw!

  35. zombiepresidents says:

you guys really think this editorial is good…..smh it just sounds like a bunch of transparent hate and agenda driven propaganda hidden behind a veil of “im not hating heres a bunch of nice things about the person im about to shit on”

the critique comes off as tired bougie hate more so then any kind of, constructive or not, criticism from what should be a talented and veteran journalist

i swear it took him less then 10 minutes to write this…..and save all that well at least its just not aggregated links talk cause if he is going to do it he may as well not half ass it

  36. Boombapster says:

“…it’s hard to get excited about an album who’s best song is built off a random Birdman album track…”
    -Ouch!

“Guess that camel hunting crusade didn’t work when Hov dropped another classic on you, lil buddy. Ha.”
-Classic? Really, YellaNigguh? You reaching for the next universe there, yellow buddy.

Thanks for bringing this surge of editorials, btw.

    BB$. Birdman throwaway. Ouch.

    p.s. BP3 ain’t no BP1

  37. DC says:

Like the read and I feel you on the “Game shit” that you see regarding going after Hov and all his ‘off court antics’. However, Game needs a comeback? Did I miss something? All 3 of his albums were hot and he proved that he didn’t need the good Doctor with Dr.’s Advoacate and LAX. This is when Dre realized he made the mistake of choosing 50 over Game. 50 is doooooooooooooooodie…he really is bad. There is no comeback here, just a reunion with the Doctor. Interested to see how it turns out.

PS DId I read correctly….um, yep, you think BP3 is a classic?!?!?!!?!??? Seriously???? Ummm, okay (WTF?!?!?)…have fun at your Ice Cube screening and after that maybe get back to knowing what ‘classic’ hop hop is considering you run RapRadar.com

  38. MHarstad says:

BP3 aint no classic but its pretty dope..far from garbage like you fools are calling it

  39. mac DIESEL says:

@ YN aka HIGH YELLA CORNBREAD

    “Hov dropped another classic…”

U BUGGIN’ WIT THAT ONE U HIGH YELLA BEIGE NEGRO!!!! THAT WAS JAY’S WEAKEST WORK!!!! DON’T LET YA “STANSHIP” WIT JAY INTERFERE WIT YA WORK CORNBREAD!!!! NOW ABOUT GAME, I SEE WUT U SAYIN’ !!!! I WAS HIGH ON GAME!!!! EVEN MORE SO WHEN HE LEFT G-UNIT!!!! I THOUGHT HE WOULD TAKE OVER THE INDUSTRY FOR A MINUTE WITHOUT HIS TWO CRUTCHES (50 CENT & DRE)!!!! BUT DOCTOR’S ADVOCATE WAS GOOD BUT NOT ILL!!!! HIS LAST ALBUM I CAN’T EVEN REALLY REMEMBER A GOOD SOLID RECORD OFF THAT!!!! GAME’S SHIT TALKIN’ N NOT SHOWIN’ N PROVIN’ HE CAN MAKE A HIT SINGLE OR A HOOK GROWS TIRESOME!!!! IT’S MAKIN’ HIS FANS IMPATIENT!!!! U WOULD THINK NOW THAT HE GOT DRE, HE WOULD COME OUT WIT SOME HEAT!!!! BUT ALL THEM SINGLES HE CAME OUT WIT IS TRASH!!!! SHIT, 400 BARS IS BETTER THAN ALL THEM WACK SINGLES COMBINED!!!! THIS NIGGA NEED TO STOP FRONTIN’ N LET DRE PRODUCE HIS HIT SINGLE FOR HIS ALBUM!!!! NUFF SAID!!! I’M OUT!!!! TIME FOR HAPPY HOUR!!!! HA!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  40. rocstar says:

YN you do know that games gona make a diss track to u now, right?

and BP3 spawned run this town, empire state of mind, on to the next one, and young forever. what other album had this many hit singles? and he could keep goin if he put out already home or star is born.

  41. casper says:

BP3 had no replay value. Thankfully everyone’s bored with it and moving on to the next one, like one dude above pointed out. Jay shot himself in the foot speaking on making the next record the day before it even came out. Far from classic, and only a few really decent joints.

Game is in trouble, even having Aftermath behind him won’t propel him in the direction his first album sent him into. Way too much drama and bullshit with him, and its a shame, cuz he was the cat from the last 5 years or so that couldve really brought the west coast back into prominence before Detox comes out.

Although there were 5 or 6 pretty good cuts on LAX, some of those joints were solid, but the album on the whole was misguided.

  42. casper says:

BTW, people gotta stop calling albums classic upon release, name a classic 5 years after an albums been out, see what kind of replay value it has and how timeless the music is.

  43. rocstar says:

    ^

i dont tihnk hov was tryin to make a classic album. he stated even before he started bp3 that he wanted to make an album with BIG songs that he could tour with. He did that, he increased his fan base, and he’s more known around the world now than ever. now i think that he has everyones attention hes gona go bak in the studio and come bak with some classic shit.

and if game wasnt bi-polar id still buy his music

  44. will says:

Man I agree with YN says but your buggin blueprint 3 was not a classic

    @ROCSTAR

T.I. paper trail had Whatever you like,Live your life,Swagger like Us,and Dead and Gone, and No Matter What and Swing your Rag and Whats up Whats Happening he was all over the charts and yall niggas Said Carter 3 was better if TI Paper Trail wasnt a classic cant call Blueprint 3 a classic Str8 up Becuz real talk Paper Trail>BP3 TI had songs with pop artist but his shit wasnt as cheesy ass jay’s Only song on Paper trail that fucc me over was the whatever you like shit and it was a hit not to mention TI had fillers on the charts like Im Illy his Intro Song (56 Barz) Slideshow

And Doctor Advocate was a solid album but it aint have shit on Documentary

  45. will says:

real talk who is still listening to Blueprint 3 like if you had the album songs like Onto the Next One and Young Forever wouldve been old to you by time Jay Released them as singles

like a 3 weeks after hearing that album it wasnt as hot anymore

  46. mikey says:

game career not in good shape

  47. HENNESSEY says:

    Ya BP3 was not a classic….

That being said I don’t think game really needs that bit of a change….His first three albums were all completely solid…You could even say that the Doctors Advocate was a classic…But I definitely think you should of aimed this editorial at another rapper who definitely needed a change!

  48. rocstar says:

    @ will

paper trail is classic in my opinion. but thank you, already home, haters, star is born? those are sick tracks, especially if u look at where he was at in his career

  49. rocstar says:

not to mention the intro where he lays it all out.

  50. Thomas says:

These editorial are a def on point. First thing I read when I have a subscription to XXL was YN’s words. Definitely need one of these weekly.

  51. amItrippin says:

Good article but why you got Soulja Boy as the pic? Hahaa!

For real doe. The editorials = heat. Gives the site a new dynamic. I just wonder if them being dropped between regular stories ruins the site’s flow of news? Maybe an editorial section? Or differentiate the LOOK of editorials from regular posts?

  52. sharif says:

really liking the editorials..but what did you mean about the birdman random track? keep up the great work!

  53. jm says:

damn alota pple catchin feelins on here. bp3 was by far the BEST album that came out in the past 2-3 years. classic? maybe but there isnt another album that dropped to even be considered a ‘classic’ since 08

  54. Gordon B. says:

“bp3 was by far the BEST album that came out in the past 2-3 years”
I got to get my hands on the album you’re listening to because it sure isn’t BP3.

  55. K Dot says:

You’re too close to the music, Elliot. Hov hasn’t put out a solid album since BP2.

  56. DoeMoney says:

Elliot you’re an idiot and you and your cohorts post the same shit as a Nahright and the rest of the stans in the complex media circle jerk.

  57. fireeee says:

hahaha omg how bias r these editorials. BP3 a classic??
hahaha please u sound like ahardcore Jay z fan, wouldnt b suprised with the shit ur saying about game. u haters just dont stop, game dont need you love, hate it or love the underdogs ontop!!!!
Game = legend in the making!!!

  58. james says:

Well, well, well….as I sit in front of my computer today (drunk), I shake my head at all of you guy’s having the nerve to talk about “any” rapper. 3/4’s of the people leaving comments don’t even know what the official album covers even look like anymore. All yall be downloading, that’s not supporting, it’s actually exhausting. For an artist to deliver “quality” material, he must be presented with something that calls for his best to be put out. Half, if not ALL of the good rappers/MC’s, truthfully are all lacking in the quality department. It’s no inspiration anymore. What’s inspiring about having a hit album and 2 to 3/4’s of profit (that you worked hard to produce) is lost to illegal downloading and bootlegging. You complain, complain, and bitch more, but going after the artists and dissing them isn’t going to solve shit. You’re barely scratching the surface of the real issue. Once entertainers (look in all fields) see that their work is appreciated more, etc., then they’ll produce quality material for consumers. Until then, it’ll be just a bunch of bitches crying about how Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Eminem, aren’t putting out the best of work.

    Last great year for hip-hop = 2001-2002

And btw YN, Jay hasn’t had a classic since Blueprint 1 fella.

  59. james bond says:

^I didn’t write my entire name (once again, drunk) but you know who the fuck it is…Mr. Long Paragraphs bitch

  60. DoeMoney says:

Oh and B.Dot is a hater. He sounds real tough on the internet talking shit about rappers/females/ or whatever, but if he say DJ Solar in person he’d be eating his shit. Such swayed opinion on a highly visible site. You guys are definitely the Lari Lavi of hip hop blogging.

  61. DG says:

K Dot your opinion is no longer valid due to the fact that you said BP2 was a solid album. BP2 is down at the bottom end of Jay’s albums along with Kingdom Come

  62. rocstar says:

    ^
you could play kingdom come in 10 years and its gona sound fresh as fuck. that shit is classic

  63. Real Talk says:

His new shit been wacc but to say his career over after droppin 3 great albums in a row is pushing it

  64. Oj Da Cornball says:

ping ping shoot the star off your face. game’s a joker kid.
he can only make INTERESTING headline by saying 50’s name.

  65. JDot says:

Thanks for these editorials YN. You where the first(XXL) Editor where it was a must read for me. You yourself are a legend and I also wish you would reproduce some of your classics..

I just wish you would get back to using more rap verses in your editorials..

Great stuff all around tho RapRadar,YN,B.Dot and Big Homie)

  66. Interscope Employee says:

    Game fell off son

  67. king says:

lets see if your tough enough to make a post about 50 cent….

  68. illaDeuce says:

You people are all idiots. Blueprint 3 was a classic. Why because every track was hot and relevant to today, and the album changed the game. Blueprint 3 brought about “the real” an element always talked about in the world of hip-hop but was never actually there. Every rapper was telling you their the realest in the hood when they dont do shit in the hood, Jay squashed that. He also Made a lot of these skinny bright rainbow denim boys question their attire. AND HE SAVED US FROM HEARING GHOSTFACE IN AUTO TUNE AS A SINGLE.. Blueprint 3 was a classic, but with the mantle of classic, albums need time. Very few albums are deemed classic as soon as they drop, so in 1-2 years every hip hop head better consider BP3 a classic.

  69. Cheezy says:

If Blueprint 3 was a classic

Carter 3 was the great album of alltome

  70. The Truth says:

bp3 was very good album, but classic… thats alittle too strong. I couldnt really be honest with myself and say its on the level of RD, BP1, Black album or american gangsta. Its like it was a album full of 8/10 or 9/10 songs which makes it solid, but theres no Dead presidents, heart of the city, what more can i say or Pray.

Basically i kinda agree with YN till the ending of the editorial i diverge. The Game is at the point where hes been bubbling, or burning in his career, but hasnt been straight scorching.

I think its the beef with 50, just be str8 draining.

  71. General says:

YN on Jay’s nuts again???? Big suprise…I could see this shit coming from you against Game since he said “fuck Jay” on his tour overseas last year. I may not agree with a lot of Game’s decisions but he has earner respect with the CD’s that he’s dropped and I will say there is not an MC that is willing to step to him in a battle including Jay…

YN has some valid perspectives on hip hop, but it is the drops like these that make the others hard to respect because of your obvious dick riding of certain artists to the point that you will continously take shots at other artists on their behalf…

YN, do us all a favor and let 50 and Jay try to fight their own battles and remove yourself from trying to impress them by taking jabs at their enemies trying to earn yourself some points or favors from them

  72. MRZIGZAG says:

    game always been tight

  73. Ac@pella! says:

Good shit YN. I don’t totally agreevwith all of it, but its still a dope editorial nonetheless…Game is dope. The Documentary was classic, The Doc’s Advocate was memorable, and L.A.X should been called A.S.S lok. It was too many rushed ass throwaway joints on there. That Jay shit kinda turned me off to him cause Jay is my all time fav rapper. I 4give the nigga tho. Lol…Game is the type of nigga that used to hang witchu in high school that would lie so fuckin much, that nigga got shot in the head, u wouldn’t believe it was him at the funeral. Lol! Jus put out good music, fuck tha bullshit, and live life Game…oh, and the beef is gettin corny Game. Do somethin else…

  74. Ac@pella! says:

*IF that nigga got shot in the head…

  75. getmoney says:

I think Jay-Z’s PR paid to write this.lol

  76. King JuggaNott says:

Proves my fucking point totally. Jay Drops a fucking album that make the fucking East Relevant again when NOBODY was checking for ANY nigga from up north not named Drake and what kinda respect does he get NONE!! Ha! Fucking shame….opinions are opinions, but how can BP3 NOT be a classic? Please….I swear cats are NOT listening to the music. Name a cat on the east that dropped that didn’t pitch a brick? Not saying that Sales make it a classic, but that shit went Platinum for a reason right? If Jada Kiss, 50 and numerous other artist south and up north pitched bricks. C’mon….don’t let me stop y’all hate. Doing a great job haters…great job. LOL

  77. Bobburn says:

    Ob4cl2>bp3 thatsall

  78. King JuggaNott says:

I thought that OB4CL2 was a great album too…and I’m not even a Raekwon fan…I copped that joint for the f’ing support that shit was so fly. Listened to it around 2 times…I love the production on it. Better than BP3? Eh….good album though.

  79. ???? still best rite now!! says:

    @YN

seem like somebody gettin a lil full of themselves since the last editorial….smh
just cuz u got a couple cosigns last time, dont mean you can open yo inner diary lol

you had nothin thought provoking or objective to say in this editorial. Im a big Game fan..but somebody needs to tell him 1. dissing G-Unit is sooooo played out. 2. “400 barz” was a snoozer. (“shake” also) 3. Why hasn’t one Blackwall street artist or ANY west coast emcees been featured on his albums??? 4. the bi-polar shit really does turn fans off….

dude is so talented..and its disappointing he isn’t a bigger star…and gets away with the questions i posted

as for yo lil editorial…that aint gon make him question himself. its just gon get yo ass beat. so if u on the west..u better “Shake”!!!

  80. The Truth says:

    @King Jugga

BP3 was good, but i dont think it was a classic.
    lyrics were great,
    flow was on point
but the beat selection was meh for me.
It was missing something that each one of those classic albums that 99% of the population agree were classics (bp1, RD, black album) missing.

idk, shit you may be right since already home had wordplay some of these cats need to pick up on in there songs.

  81. DoeMoney says:

Anybody that thought that BP3 was a classic is a fucking idiot. The album was great 7.5 or 8/10. Solid. Not classic. I expected more out of Elliott being that he’s a more seasoned hip hop listener. But yo, why all the ill will towards the Game. I’d like to see Elliott say that shit to THE GAME’s face and not in an article. Would he have the same tune…Such a stan…such a stan…

  82. truthplease says:

can we please talk about the real issue here….how bad game is trying to fuck up his career??? he acts like a fucking woman with all this drama bullshit. focus on your skills and drop the bullshit TMZ shit.

documentary was his best because he was on point with dr dre and 50 (try and argue how we do wasn’t fucking crazy). doctor’s advocate was decent. i could barely get through LAX. as i see it he’s either on track to put himself on the back burner of rap or make a great comeback and be on the dude everyone is talking about again (for the right reasons). i’m actually pulling for the latter of those two. who gives a fuck about how bad or good bp3 was.

  83. truthplease says:

*be the dude everyone is talking about again. haha. wouldn’t be surprised at anything game does at this point though. no homo.

  84. DoeMoney says:

Hopefully GAME’s New LP will be vicious. One problem and suggestion I have is that he leave that cut called “Shake” off the album. But you know what the media will do is when he finishes the video, you’ll see it on every body and they mommas blog and they will say how nice that shit is just because it’s THE GAME. Now don’t get me wrong, I think THE GAME is nice…a little misguided…but nice. Now watch this shit and mark my word…I bet you 10 bucks once that “Shake” video hits the internet…my money is that RapRadar will post that shit because it was posted on another major hip hop site and since it was there, they got to post. Now it’s truly funny how this site can talk mad shit about the GAME and turn right around and post some material from this mc later on on the sly. Interesting. Now, if RR was ’bout it, they wouldn’t post anymore material from the GAME but knowing them and the Cringer Elliott Wilson they’ll probably some shit from him and give it their seal of approval just on GP. Think about it…It’s like their talking out both sides of their mouth…

  85. King JuggaNott says:

    @ The Truth
I beg to differ bruh….Really. I thought that the way that he selected the beats were Masterful. LOL…He gave a good selection. Like one cat who said that OB4CL2 was a classic over BP3….OB4CL2 had no variety. I loved the Tracks because it was a breath of fresh air…a break from the basic library sounds and more traditional samples etc.

On Blue Print Jay dropped numerous anthems that went further than just Hip Hop heads.
I thought that Hip Hop downplayed the BP3…kinda like Jordan scoring 50…you saw that shit before…so it’s like Meh!
D.O.A.- if that aint Rick Rubin shit right there…Hip Hop at it’s finest…original shit right there. Nigga even sang the Heeey Heeyyy ayyyy goooood byeee on the fucking hook..c’mon bruh.

Run This Town- The track is Bonkers…Rih Rih murked the Hook…it’s a anthem…’Ye murked it, Jay shitted on it…C’mon. NOW err’body “all black everything?” C’mon..for a reason..Jay is that reason.
Empire State Of Mind- This will go down as one of the best songs in Hip Hop history..period. He Put New York on his back..I’m New Orleans to the fullest and I bump this song like I’m a resident Nicca. LOL
Real As It Gets- Beat is official…Jeezy holds his own…and Jay drops Gems all over it. Anthem..
On to the Next One- Swizz on the track….IN fucking SANE…anthem again…nigga don’t even have to be hip hop to fuck with this. ORIGINAL SOUND…Fly shit…
Already Home- Like you stated…I thought I was the only one to catch the wordplay..that shit is ill.
So Ambitious- Has what all these “stick em up” artist don’t have…character, history…message. Track is insane nigga. LIke I just cashed a big ass check and now I’m shutting down the mall on some I’m here shit. LOL
Young Forever- I love this song….gives the album depth. Message…Classic for HIS catalog. Reaches across genres with this joint. Love it.

Not to mention the other tracks murk most niggas album….shit like Thank you where he threw Haymakers that most Hip Hop fans miss..just like most of Jays gems.3rd verse was straight cancer…

  86. herbsaac says:

/ Must be like 40 or something.. On to the next one is a nice track? its was more like the anthem for this cd.. Every just pushed next all the way through the cd after hearing 1 minute of each song.. Stale raps.. Kanye was the only shining point to this album.. As well as the only diamond still shingin from the roc(free and young chris are ill but young chris has been having sub par verses.. maybe its just the beats.. as of late and freeway is so dope but no one seems to ever give him his shine) Freelapse and Stim Pack > > > BP3.. seriously BP3 sounds like Jay was just going through the motions and his raps that were mediocre at best(come on hes 40 and doing metaphors we’ve all heard from him or someone else before) so if you say his mediocre shit was better than mosts best rhymes your crazy.. Have you even heard the stim pack or freelapse.. that shit is way closer to a classic than BP3…

**waits for an “editorial” about all the shit talking about Jay-Z’s poop effort on BP3**(and i bet its just a rant like every other blogger including me posted on this editorial about game except its gonna be with jays dick down his throat..)&no disrespect&(maybe a little)

  87. Smh@RRCmmnts says:

Smh @ Yns intellect lol wow maybe i do co sign that he is part of the circle of complex jerks ha

and by that note being said 400 Bars straight FIRE!

  88. Da Business says:

I’m over here dyin’ laughin’ @ how this post became about Jay and not Game lol. That’s says a lot about Game, not a good look homie.

Game is too wishy washy for my taste. I stopped fuckin’ w/ him after his 1st joint.

I find it really funny that after all the shit he talks, 50 is still making more $$$ off of his lp’s than he is lol.

Shouts out to YN, keep doing ur thang bruh.

  89. bwsrunla says:

    BP3 A CLASSIC ?

    LOL………

  90. HawthorneFinest says:

    Alright listen up haters!!!
I hate what game’s doing too, name dropping (again)..lame singles…lame leaks.
But you have to assure that Game has some Really dope shit on the album.
I mean….C,mon. Dre producing!! AND the tracks he recorded a wlong time ago will prolly be on there. and those sounded dope!

as for the 400 bars and runnin…..hate it or love it..it’s the most Talked about Track this couple weeks!

  91. PAX says:

Hey Machiavelliot, let the man drop that damn album first and then you can start commenting on his actual musical status. And pls stop referencing Jay’s name in you editorials, it’s so lame seeing you dickriding Sean constantly.

  92. MiloD says:

    bp3 classic!

game reps my coast… but he aint “the” one

  93. papology says:

Seriously, how personal is this shit with you guys and Game? Same with that Rick Ross dude. Yall take some pretty cheap shots at both of em and it makes you look like a sore loser.

Either learn the art of dissing AND winning people on your side or let it go.

  94. Ola says:

I think u have ur own personal agenda by coming out even before his album drops, how come u are not talking about 50,a guy that sells millions and struggled to make gold.talk about all the beefs 50 started without any reason.you need to be fair if you want to be taken seriously,Game definitely needs to put out good hits but for u to tell us bp3 is a classic is shocking I would agree if u had said OB4CL.Game is still relevant and I think u should support and don’t play politics.

  95. ???? still best rite now!! says:

    word@ Ola

50 is much more of a joke these days….from millions to not breaking gold. And who the fuck is givin him scripts?? lol dude is a horrible actor!!

wheres dat editorial?? oh i forgot…Fif got chu in his backpocket like a bitch!

  96. Yooo says:

I just have to say, BP3 was NOWHERE NEAR a classic. Apart from that I agree with most of what you say.

  97. Ac@pella! says:

    @King JuggaNott

I laughed when my nigga said BP3 was classic. Then months and months l8r, I look at it and agree. Not only do beats and rhymes an album classic, but how that album affected the ppl of that certain time period. Sure, callin it a classic when it hasn’t been out a complete year is crazy, but down the line, in a few years, our “classic talk about BP3” will make Sense. Especially in a year where all the young cats were dropping their debuts, Rae comes back, Em comes back, Fif barely exists, and Kanye gets his footing back off the strength of 808’s…Everything else was autotune overload, swag & patron overdose, and skinny jean mania. We’ll have to appreciate this shit down the line. Seriously, one line in a song had everybody from regular niggaz to celebrities rockin “all black everything”. Don’t let me get started on the black Jesus piece every rapper has now because of Jay. Shit is is crazy. BP3 may not be better than BP1, but it damn sure trumps BP2 (that shit was a mediocre ass filler album) and Kingdom Come was a classic, fuck what niggaz say…Oh and Game. Step ya name up (pun intended punchline lol) I’m rootin 4 ur punk ass…Don’t let me down.

  98. ayoradar says:

    HEY YO RAP RADAR!!!!

If you look at ICE CUBEs blog they edited it and his NEW SINGLE droppin on APRIL 26TH!!! THIS MONDAY!!!

  99. Pepeto says:

    PEPETO BLACKOUT

Lol that shit is funny everybody in this motherfucker act like they rap analyst and shit fuck out here lol and i do not agree with YN bp3 was not a classic but it was close to be , the difference its that’s my opinion but YN trynna sound like hes HIP HOP and because he said its classic now bp3 is classic sorry after everyhting u say y should put : ( in my opinion ) not everybody gotta think like u do !!

  100. asssik says:

  101. thatdude says:

100% agree with this ish.. Was a big game fan, I even kinda like LAX, but lately whenever he speaks all you smell is 50cents balls in the air or some other Gunit member…

  102. JONAH says:

AIGHT YN WE GET THE POINT….GAME SUCKS…NOW POST MORE INTERESTING SHIT. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO HEAR? YOU’RE FUNNY YOU’RE CLEVER?

  103. Tony Nelson says:

Jeez, alot of hate for game on this website! YN u need to get of 50,em and drakes dick fuckin cocksucker

  104. console says:

His first album Dre and 50 made it a classic. His second album was ok but his 3rd album was crap. Hopefully he gets back to where he was in 05.

  105. Chris says:

Reading these op-eds and looking around Rap Radar, I feel like Elliot himself is bored of Hip-Hop itself. I dont know, it just feels like YN said a long time ago fuck it, lol. No shots, he’s still got the top 5 Hip-Hop blog (Shout out to B.Dot and Big Homey), but dude seems more interested nowadays in Rhianna’s stuff and a very mainstream Jay-Z album than say a steady lyrcist, putting out new material soon. Not saying Game is that, but with others I do.

  106. The Truth says:

But i do laugh at the end of the day, where one could say the main reason this editorial got so many replies is due to “bp3 was a classic”

  107. King JuggaNott says:

    @ ac@pella…

Word..again..Hip Hop downplayed that album. Right now we are in the stage of being critics. Don’t get me wrong…it will always be a debate about music. But right now we have fans who are not listening to the entire album. Some wont appreciate music because they either stick in that one zone…Like the kid who stated that Stimulus Package was better than BP3, or that OB4CL2 was. I get where they are going. They are fixated on that raw Hip Hop sound. I love that too…(no so much of a Rae fan though). I really believe that BP3 was one of Jay-Zs best albums. It’s more complete than reasonable doubt….go back and look and listen to the tracks. Don’t get me wrong Nostalgia sets in when I hear some of Jays Classic….but BP3 is not only a classic because one man singlehandedly (again) moved everyone from what they were previously doing and opened the gates for guys who were used to tight beats and rhymes to get back in the game. It’s tight because of the Music aspect of the album even moreso…

With BP3 Jay did to Hip Hop what Dr. Dre and Snoop did with “The Chronic” when everyone was bumping Wu Tang, Das Efx, and Def Squad were making albums with all dudes kicking at the screen and rocking hoodies doing videos on rooftops and shit. Snoop and Dre brought a whole new style..people started dancing and the only east coast cat to Survive that was Biggie with Puff playing Phil Jackson.

He set the standard……for example. Why do people say that J. Cole is equal or better than Drake when everybody and they mama…..Vets, new Comers, Bums, Singers etc. Hop on DRAKES tracks and jack his style. I don’t think that most people Other than Hardcore hip hop heads can even name 5 J. Cole songs. Listen to Jay on “everyday a star is born” did you hear the line where he says Drakes up NEXT lets see what he do with it? And J.COLE is ON that song….c’mon.

  108. Da Business says:

    @Ac@pella!

    @King JuggaNott

Both of u make valid points as far as Jay is concern. The problem w/ the general hip hop community is we always compare the artist’s work to his/her own work, which in most cases isn’t fair. BP3 was the best lp to come out last yr PERIOD. We as fans need to stop comparing everything Jay does to BP1, Reasonable Doubt, or The Black lp. BP3 was a game changer bottom line, while everyone was goin’ right Jay went LEFT and shut it down. Which @ lease IMHO makes it a CLASSIC. Yeah, compared to his other lp’s it probably won’t make the top 5, but it’s a classic in it’s own right.

  109. alutap says:

^ ^ wat da busines said! i rest my case!

  110. Lattimore says:

YN got sonned by 50 on the radio, why else would he write this up?

  111. […] YN Editorial: Tha Crossroads Game, Game, go away. Please come back another day. Ha. Seriously, I shrug when talk of Chuck Taylor comes up. (Does he […] […]

  112. az5lyrics says:

BP3 WAS A CLASSIC IN ITS OWN TIME EVEN THOUGH IS NOT CLOSE TO RD, BLUEPRINT, AND BLACK ALBUM.

    HOV THE G.O.A.T.

  113. soulsupreme says:

YN don’t listen to that “400 bars” nonsense by The Game its turrible! © Charles Barkley. He had some joints on his first album, but frankly I can’t sit through another album of name-dropping.

    peace.

  114. 106 says:

A Classic album to me means im not skipping no songs on the album cause they wack. So if thats the case BP3 is a classic. All the songs on the album are jay on subject putting together crazy wordplay without killing 100 people. Which is why its a new classic being a gangsta aint the same no more when you 40 most us hip hop heads are over 30 now anyway. He streched out the genre it showed we more then just thugs and hood niggas its amazing after 11 albums he still was able to make another classic. How can anybody deny that? Like BP3 wasn’t by far the best album of “09? YN you got it 100% they cant see clearly cause the reign aint gone..

  115. 106 says:

All the songs on BP3 are dope. I been listening since it came out and can’t find 1 garbage song. CLASSIC! Tell me the ones if you disagree.

  116. korey_k says:

    well put game fell off
    what’s the rush?

  117. ST says:

I guess NONE of you really listened to LAX. That shit bangs. A few joints were hot on the 1st half of that album, BUT THE SECOND HALF OF LAX IS DOOOOOPE!! the duet with chrissette michelle was a BANGER, produced by scott Storch, Gentleman and Thug was BANGING with Neyo, who I dont even like. The joint with Common ‘Angel’ was DOPE. Games Pain with Keisha Cole – DOPE. Yall cats tripping. Too far on 50 nuts to appreciate good music.

And I agree with the 1st post – Kingdom Come was DOPE
