So here’s the skinny. This past Monday, Slim Thug gave an as-told-to interview on relationships with VIBE. For some reason, the article ruffled a few a lot of feathers in regards to Black women. Today, he called up Big Tigger’s Morning Show and defended his remarks.

If he would have stated his opinion clearer he woulve come across alot better and this probably wouldn’t have been as big a deal. With that said he did have a point, I mean women of any race can be a “gold digger” or expect men to provide everything they want, but he wasn’t lying that alot of black women demand for men to do everything they want and be who they want them to be without giving back in the relationship and taking care of their man.

  11. TdOthIpPy says:

So now we sterotype ourselves? That may be his opinion but i strongly disagree. First off there’s more black women working then black men. Secondly, the atitude of material things over i.e rent, mortgage is not about colour or gender, who hasn’t copped jordans when they know they have tuition to pay. My parents taught me real young to cook, clean cause no man should treat his women like his momma. Those dependant ass dudes lose there girl to real men like me everyday. I hope a female in the game say’s something cause that shit he said is foul. Not all black women are gold diggers and not every black man is a buster, if he kept the statement more gender based i could let it go but i see black women on there grind everyday on my way to work and school. My Slim Thug Already platinum CD is now a coaster.

  12. TdOthIpPy says:

Also, i’ve dated white girls before too and what’s the first thing that happens when u meet there parents? They ask “what do u do” and “are u in school”. Why can’t black women want more then a dude that doesn’t cheat?

  13. Cpetty281 says:

Jiffy ur a fuckin bird cuz…and i say CUZ wit every intention cuz….first of all homeboy if you hate on a person and from jump dont like that person why would you follow him on twitter?? Its obvious you readin his tweets…why follow a man you hate so much cuz?? thats lame homie straight up….you obviously didnt even listen to the convo cause he was standing by EVERYTHING that he did SAY…he was arguing the bullshit that was taken outta context…ignorance is a disease cuz find a remedy…

  14. Chris says:

If u dnt like wat he said get over it…his opinion is his opinion and its sum truth to wat he say….for kuz thats hatn get off his nuts u jus follown him to b nosey and hope bad shit happen if u dnt like him its ppl like u who mess up ppl names…if we askd yo opinion on smthn and u said it like he did then wat wld u do? he was gttn stuff str8 for ppl like u who wanna see him fall….damn jealousy aint no goood look on u kuz

THANK YOU SIR…SOME OF US ARE NOT GOLD DIGGERS, I EARN MY MONEY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IN A CAREER. MEN DON’T LIKE WHEN WE AS BLACK WOMEN CATEGORIZE YOU…STOP CATEGORIZING US AND LOOK AT THE WOMEN YOU CHOOSE TO BE IN RELATIONSHIP WITH.

B.DOT…I NEED YOU TO FALL WAY OFF THAT “IT’S TRUE” MESS…IT’S NOT TRUE FOR ALL WOMEN OUT HERE. I GOT MY OWN PARTNA

  16. bbe4eva says:

im rollin wut thugga on this 1…wut did he say (in tha interview) wrong? the women he meet bein a rapper wont b tha same thyp of women a professor meets rite?
plus he is jus 1 man outta millions! and we all have opinions, give him a break!

  17. Victoria says:

if everyone would just shut the fuck up & respect the opinions of others & stop pretending for one fucking second they don’t have opinions of their own that would piss others off…

  18. bbe4eva says:

    he never said all…

  19. ST says:

sorry, but some of slims comments are absolutely true. I cant speak on the white girl issue, because I’ve never dated white, but a LOT of black woman are just as he says…gold diggers, money hungry, multiple dick chasing, etc…..they dont want to cook, dont clean up after themselves or their kids, etc. That is just my experiences. Some have been absolutely excellent, some are terrible homemakers and terrible girlfriends/wives. It is never enough for some Black women

  20. Nicki says:

This isn’t the same tone he was speaking on twitter a few days ago he said if you don’t like it fu ck ya and suck a di ck. If you don’t like shot at him when you seen him that he stands by what he said if he was so misquoted he would have said that from jump.

  21. Michelle says:

Talib needs to stfu and let Slim fight his own battles, he cant speak for him. Slim Thug said it, so he should be able to defend his own words, he’s a grown ass man!

  22. Michelle says:

We should boycott these idiots but then again I haven’t bought a rap CD in 15 yrs. Suburbia and overseas keep these jokers afloat. When Gay people, Jews, and Italians stop giving their money and support, shit changes quick.

  23. Kelly says:

i stans for talib, but this is disappointing. he said its not his job to call out rappers, but he sure made it clear he wasn’t feeling john mayer when he said what he said about black women. he’s saying slim is just speaking from his perspective being a young black man from houston…well you know what? he’s wrong. we are all wrong from time to time and this is an educational experience for him if he chooses to accept it.

when you run off at the mouth, and that’s how you really feel, then expect people to express their feelings back. talib is basically whining in defense of slimm thug bc ppl got angry. he is the first one to rap about people getting involved and standing up for themselves, and he has always wrote/rapped about the struggles and beauty of black women, so i’m surprised that he is criticizing others for taking their own personal stand. his strongest argument is that ppl generalize, but shit, even that’s a generalization. i was offended at the statement, and i don’t ever say ****** ain’t shit. i support black men and women but when they do wrong, shit they do wrong.

talib is saying unfollowing him on twitter or not supporting his music is too harsh. i don’t think its harsh at all. that’s people’s choice. some people don’t listen to r. kelly anymore. alot of ppl still fuck with him. that’s their business either way, i cant say who’s right or wrong, but it is their right to react how they want. he wants to have this laissez-faire attitude about discourse and opinions and blah blah blah, but then try to say that ppl are too harsh for exercising their rights to unfollow him on twitter, or whatever else they are choosing to do. my thing is if you say something, be prepared to back your shit up, no matter what you believe. if he can’t do that (and he hasn’t) i can’t respect him

  24. John says:

What slim thug said was divisive, ignorant and unwarranted….
Talib should not have defended him and he should not have used someones elses ignorance (I.e ****** ain’t shit) to justify anothers… That makes no sense..and at the end of the day both are still ignorant…

I don’t agree with anyone of it. I don’t completely agree with Aubrey either..

There’s no effective communication at all.. I think they all just need to sit down.. Lol..
Slim thug should have just been ignored. Examining who he is and what he represents should have been evidence enough that he is only capable of speaking some straight up BS…

  25. John says:

I didn’t care too much for what Slim Thug said, and I get the fact that he isn’t an intellectual nor is he articulating something that is out of character for him.

I just hate the fact that the folks with these types of mentalities are the ONLY ones that seem to get the camera time and the microphone.

  26. Ginger Jones says:

If we want to continue making strides as a people, we’re going to have to stop cosigning and enabling ignorance. Stop making excuses. Period. Point. Blank.

The unemployment, prison and high school dropout rates for black men are at an all time high. Fathers are abandoning thier babies. Talk about that. Black women are always forced to look at themselves and I actually see where many of them are making strides. Change doesn’t come overnight but I do see a lot of transformation going on with black women. Many are living, learning and growing. I know so many personally who have come so far. As for the men, all the enabling is doing them more harm than good. I have male family members who have been enabled thier whole lives and it’s totally stunted their mental growth and maturity.

At the end of the day everyone simply needs to work on being the very best they can be as an INDIVIDUAL. There is no need to point fingers or play any blame game. When you’re on top of your game, you’ll attract the same.

  28. Ginger Jones says:

Just the other day on twitter Talib lost me forever with one of his tweets somethin bout If if was Denzel who said it, then all the ladies would say “OK” he’s right but we mad because Slim Thug said it….. That tweet right there made me realize he aint as “intellectual” and I thought he was.

  29. susan says:

I heard him on Big Tigga this morning and he stated that his brother was the one who said what he said and he just repeated it…but why are we so overly concerned with what any celebrity says about anything…its not as if Hollywood is the moral compass of the world now is it…so da phuck what if he brothers wants to deal with a woman over a black woman then that is on him…

I have to be honest and say I don’t like to see brothers with women of other races if their reasoning behind dating/marrying other races is because “black women have to learn to be more submissive” or “black women talk too much, are overweight, too loud…etc” …then phuck dat brother and feed him beans, but if he has genuinely fallen in love with someone of another race then I’m happy for him…

What I hate to read about are the sterotypes or archtypes as to why people do shyt…suffice it to say that we do what we want to do and say what we want to say and as adults we need to learn to deal with it…yeah you may lose some of your fan base/friends, but so what…your speaking your mind and then turning around and being contrite only tells me one thing – you are upset that you said your thoughts aloud…and that’s it…you still feel the way you feel…you have just learned to not say anything..

  30. Case says:

Honestly, women have a lot of control over music and artists and what they put out, so boycotting would have a pretty good effect on the mainstage representation of these ideas.

Case in point: Nelly and Spelman, Ludacris and Oprah, etc. When they were challenged about their image and misogyny, they folded. Now it may have been for the simple purpose of saving their reps, or damage control, but when those women spoke, those men had to listen.

Hell, before the 90s, you couldn’t even sell records that had songs for the ladies on there. But the demographic changed the money potential, which changed the production and the overall outlook. But somewhere in there, a large swath of the female population accepted the language being spewed, which is why they feel it is cool to say such things on the main stage. If the artists saw that women didn’t dance to songs calling them bitches and hoes, they would change it, even if to save their pockets.

Now granted, the same things may be said in private conversations, which is another issues as well, but many of the conversations that are had about Black men and Black women are tied to pop culture and the overall messages being presented there as well. But getting on one accord about any of these things is difficult, and that’s what allows it to persist on the mainstage.

I think the horse we need to beat to death is the fact that a black man can say something like “successful black men are becoming extinct” and he is ok with making that statement.

  32. Yotk says:

Part of the the problem is that some women allow men to reduce them to being nothing more than sex objects, jumpoffs and baby mamas. I’m talking about chicks like Kim Porter, Cassie, Coco, Tiny, Lauryn, Nivea, Amber…the list goes on and on. Like Steve Harvey said, some women set their standards too low. Women have to raise the bar. A real man will be willing to come up.

  33. Katie Lee McLane says:

It’s not just Aubrey. If you go over to OhNoTheyDidn’t! There is a 20+ page thread full of white women ripping this idiot a new one.

  34. TdOthIpPy says:

Whether we all agree or disagree these conversations need to happen. Shout out to the women on here taking a stand.

  35. webstar says:

What he said was ignorant because it was such a broad generalization. Also, before people complain about others they need to take a look in the mirror. What are you doing to make your relationship healthy? To me it sounded like he expected to have a woman wait on him hand & foot with nothing in return. Sorry it does not work that way. And as a woman I must say I despise gold diggers but lets be CLEAR…the term does not entail all women and it certainly is not specific to a single race…as a matter of fact it is not specific to gender either, because as a successful woman I have had to be careful more than once because a man was eying my money.

Also…backtracking is laughable after going on the world’s favorite new forum (twitter) and screaming that you stand by your words and people who disagree can suck a dick or something of that nature.

  36. Katie Lee McLane says:

Woman need to take a stand white black mixed Asian Hispanic Mexican doesn’t matter what race greed or color you are this was offensive to all woman that all they should do is bow down and feed a man. But lower their standards in the process. Hell no.. Like the poster said up above Steve Harvey said a “A real man will be willing to come up.”

  37. Lucci says:

All this shit is opinions. Black women have a tendency to diss you if you aint where she is. They dont like to do anything a traditional woman would normally do. But they expect a man to stay c’mon son. in my personal experience im black and i’ve been treated better by everygirl i ever came across that wasnt black. my black ex girlfriends fuss and bitch about everything everysingle day my baby momma black and that was the worst mistake i ever made but i love my child regardless. But anyway im with slim thug

  38. ST says:

Ladies like yall commenting are far and few in between. In the interview with Tigger, Slim clearly stated that he is talking about HIS experience and that experience as a rapper. You cant hate that man for his opinion and his experiences. There IS a problem with a lot of Black Women that needs to be addressed. People are so quick to get up in arms off some comments without noticing that there really is a problem with the way some black women treat us Black Men. Maybe some Black Women have been dogged so badly by Black Men that they no longer trust or do what needs to be done, in terms of a relationship. But to boycott based of his experiences and opinions is just wrong. You can only take so much before you rebel.

  39. jo says:

if you dont like what he said, agree to disagree and move on w/ yo life.

    STOP BITCHING.!

he’s not gon take it back. all he can do is clarify what he said. even if he did apologize yall still wouldnt be satisfied so just move on!

  40. G says:

    @B Dot

Seriously? he’s telling the truth? dude was way off with those remarks. he’s just another ignorant rapper and you know that. you can’t defend this dude. he references how black women should be like white women but they have a higher divorce rate. just sayin.

  41. XXX says:

I understand he was talking about the women he hangs with…fine.. but in the interview he said “black women” meaning the entire group.. (way to back peddle trick thugg)… Also some people are saying it was “his opinion”.. This is a hasty generaliztion (a logical fallacy, look it up).. not an opinion… It’s like if I took a bite out of 4 red apples and each one of them were rotten (obviously from a bad tree)..and then I say “all red apples are rotten” Its not an opinion because I have not tasted every red apple in the world. of course it is MY opinion that those four particular apples are rotten.. other may bite it and say its perfectly fine.

  42. pienman says:

    wow… it is a see-saw truth!

  43. jojo says:

Slim, grow -up you said it and meant it. Who is paying your bills thug?

  44. bobby brougham says:

Apparently Mr. Thug and some of the people that leave comments here are chasing some trifling pussy. I don’t care how cold she is…trife is trife.

    You knew she was trife.
She was trife when you met her at the after hours breakfast spot on a weeknight. You even told your potna, “That ho stupid, but she fine as a muthafucka. I’m tryna get that pussy this weekend.”

What the fuck do you expect? Michelle Obama?

    Get the fuck outta here.
