I respect your opinion. I understand how Eminem could not do it for you. But it’s the same with 2Pac for me. First off, 2Pac is top 5 dead or alive and if it wasnt for Eminem, he would be my favorite. BUT, you have to understand that rap has branched out. 2Pac spoke about Thug Life. Eminem speaks about real struggles. Not many people can relate to 2pac. they respect him but dont fully understand him. White kids admire Eminem bc he is not a fake. He is real. And we look like him so we have something to cheer about, but of course and i believe that we ONLY want Eminem to succeed. I like Paul Wall, but i dont want him to have 5% of the success that Eminem has. Rap is a black sport. Simple as that, and I am comfortable with that, but im also comfortable with that fact that one of my own has made it. Made it to the top and will go down as one of the the greatest, if not the greatest. Hip Hop has changed. Kanye, Ti, Jay has changed the demographics, the clothes, everything. It appeals to all. I may be out of line in saying this but 2Pac may not be as popular if he were just starting out in this decade. Nobody really talks about Thug Life anymore. Rappers carry weapons, but its more about getting money that shooting people up. 50 Cent is like a modern day Pac to a certain extent, and his shit isnt as big anymore. The Game also. Baggy jeans and throwbacks have been replaced by tailored suits and Maybachs. Jay-z said it himself. No more thug shit. Same goes for Babe Ruth. Do u think Ruth could match the power of A-Rod or Pujols. No way. He would not be considered an athlete right now. Different era. WHich lends me to believe that Pac is not as relevant today as he was then and his death is glorified bc of that, being dead. Eminem’s rhymes will stand the test of time. Pac’s voice was much more powerful but Em’s lyrics overmatch his anyday. His rhyme schemes overshadow Pac’s by far. Their energy is similar. Pac was a poet, but his rhymes were simple. Jay and Em have much more clever shit, Nas too. And Nas is stuck in the 90’s as well. Great rapper, but he has not evolved like Jay-Z did. Which is why he doesnt sell. Nas/damien marley sold 50k first week. If that happened in the 90’s he would have been dropped. That album was great, but its same old Nas. No upward movement. Kinda like Hines Ward in football, solid receiver but not a stud.
Which brings me back to Eminem. He is the best.
