Soulja Boy Covers VIBE Digital Issue

DeAndre Cortez Way crowd-surfs for VIBE‘s first digital magazine cover. Below is an excerpt of SB’s cover story where he discusses the time he was asked about drug usage from his pops. Ha! Too easy.

“My Dad was on me heavy about drugs,” remembers Soulja, slumped on a red two-seater couch, staring straight ahead at nothing in particular. “He found a little sack in my bedroom, but it wasn’t from drugs. They came from some earrings that I bought. He and my stepmother kept asking if I do drugs. So I finally just said, ‘Look, I rap. I’ma be a famous rapper. My name’s Soulja Boy.’ And started showing them everything I was doing on the Internet— my MySpace page and everything.”

  4. Mr. 3-Times says:

@mac DIESEL: It depends on if you are the buyer or the seller. The seller uses the sack “for” drugs. The buyer gets the drugs “from” the sack.

I gotta respect Soulja Boy for being one of the first Wack Rappers to have longevity. How many years has it been since Crank Dat came out? I dont even know, but it seem like dude been in the game forever. Hes doing his job though, bringin in them ringtone and digital sales. Obviously thats whats keeping him around cuz he not moving no records like that this time around. The people have finally realized what to buy and what not to buy. Not even tryna hate though. He has his own market that he appeals to and he sticks to it so, hey. Waka said he not tryna be lyrical so I cant even say he wack cuz he just tryna make headbangers, but if one of these niggas ever say they lyrical or they wanna of the best rappers in the game, or that they coming for the crown, then imma have to hate again. But for now, im content with Soulja Boy now. Finally.
