’10 Mixtapes: #8 Wale More About Nothing

“Text message from Elliott sayin’ tape is dope.” It’s hard not to be bias on this one. With my encouragement, Wale returned to his mixtape roots after his debut album, Attention Deficit didn’t ignite. Be clear: We shut the Internet down on Aug. 3, 2010 when More About Nothing, the super sequel to 2008’s Mixtape About Nothing dropped. Seinfeld samples still intact and the raps are sharp. Mr. Folarin tackles his adversity on the opening rockers (“The MC” and “The Soup”), hurts Kid Cudi’s feelings on “The Numbers Won” and damn near debuts his Waka collabo (“No Hands”) which would eventually score him his first #1 song. Yup, don’t call it a comeback. Now Wale is being courted by the bosses, most notably, Rick Ross for his Maybach Music Group. Comeback season begins!

It seems like people don’t want hip hop that makes them think anymore…just something to party to. Wale gives both. Love him!

  17. lolwut? says:

@Errol, I mean I guess Cudi is better if you like people who sold their soul to Kanye and don’t even rap anymore, and if you’re going off just talking a whole bunch on your cd’s then yeah Cudi is better. But if you want real rap that’s damn good, Wale all day.
