ESGN: Freddie Gibbs “Carmelo WTF?”
After noticing Freddie Gibbs’ insightful and often humorous observations on sports through his Twitter account, Rap Radar decided to give him a forum to express his thoughts on the thrills of victory and the agonies of defeat. It’s Gangsta Gibbs Wide World Of Sports. The black Bill Simmons is here. And for his sixth column he analyzes the opening round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs. Yo Carmelo, WTF?!
This is where we separate the men from the boys in the NBA. Playoffs just started and we had a few upsets in the game ones but that don’t really mean shit in a 7 game series. Although I must say I was quite surprised to see the Lakers and Spurs take an L to the Hornets and Grizzlies.
My fellow Indiana native Zach Randolph went off with 25 and 14 to seal the deal. Chris Paul had 33 points and 14 assists and put the Hornets up 1-0 against Kobe and company. Kobe almost fucked off the season on that fade away when he fell in the crowd and ran into a fan’s knee. I woulda put that nigga out the arena, fuck his floor seats. Lakers gonna bounce back and get rid of the Hornets with no problem though.
This year’s future MVP runner-up Dwight Howard scored an impressive 46 points and snagged 19 rebounds only to lose to the Hawks in game one. The Magic should win the series but if they don’t go all the way expect Super Man to be traded or lost in free agency to a team that can get him a ring. Might be the LeBron shit all over again—just in Orlando.
The original Big 3/Super Team of the modern era, Boston Celtics took down the Knicks last night with some help from the always reliable Ray Allen to go up a game. It’s sad because Amare played his heart out, that dunk on Jermaine O’Neal was nasty, but Carmelo spoiled it in the end when he took that 30 foot shot wit all that time on the clock. I know a few plays earlier the refs jerked him on that offensive foul call, but damn Melo you could’ve went to the cup and tied the game. Shit like that makes me glad you didn’t come to the BULLS. You can’t be fuckin’ off playoff games because you wanna be a hero.
With that said, my BULLS probably gon sweep the Pacers on the road to the finals. I told y’all in October it was gonna be ’91 all over again. I’m excited for the playoffs. The matchups are intense and it’s alotta young hungry players in the league. Don’t sleep on the OKC Thunder either they might eliminate your favorite team in the West and you can never count out King James in the East.

Dwight needs to have monster games but the Magic need to lose to Hawks. Come offseason, the Nets work a package around Brook Lopez, picks, and any other player not named DWill, and Dwight will gladly come to Jersey and play with DWill who is entering his prime rather than play with Kobe who will be 33. Dwight wants to be the FACE of a franchise. He doesn’t wanna go from Magic to Lakers like Shaq did. Too many comparisons will ensue. It’s all a wait game from now on.

if you really follow the nba you would know that the spurs will lose. they may win 2 games but truthfully the grizzlies are better than the spurs. NY isnt going anywhere. give them another year or 2 and they’ll be in the thick of things but melo is just another iverson. he has no idea how to play tema ball for 48minutes so he will continuously be their downfall. im surprised at how well the pacers are playing the bulls. if they play that way at home i can see them winning 1 or 2 games ut the bulls will ultimately pull it out but im not coonvinced that the bulls can beat the heat in a 7game series. im rooting for the bulls so we’ll see. the blazers are capable of beating the mavs if the refs stop cheating but the blazers are the more inexperienced team so they have to play through and overcome the refs favoring the mavs. i guess lastly i’ll ask what did gibbs actually contribute here. he didnt say anything that i cant find on espn or yahoo. i thought it would be funny or have a twist to it. his thoughts on this were very basic. not really worth blogging about but w/e. i love bball so any excuse to talk about it works for me….
