Hugh Jackman Discusses Hip-Hop
Actor Hugh Jackman’s down with us. In fact, in Q&A with Next Movie, the actor praises some of the game’s biggest stars and experiences at their shows.
During the filming of “Real Steel” I heard that you and director Shawn Levy went to an Eminem concert. There’s an Eminem song in the movie, and played in the trailer for “Real Steel.” Can we assume that you two are big fans of his?
I think Eminem is extraordinary, and one of the greatest live acts I’ve ever seen. I’m a real fan of live music, but if I go to a concert and I feel that I’m just getting their CD, basically, played for me, it bores me. I would prefer to just listen to it. But he, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre: It was one of the most electrifying nights I’ve ever been a part of. I was actually ushered to this area and I went behind the stage and just watching Dr. Dre get ready to go onstage, it was kind of like watching a prizefighter getting ready for a big fight. There’s just so much that they put in to every song. And Eminem, he’s just, oh my God, he’s just the consummate performer. A professional. And everything comes from an honest place. Comes from his heart. That’s what I like about him.
Shady/Aftermath Winning.
Respect.

ye em is great live just like jay z is but most are terrible
The movie is terrible lol
Watch the Throne November 29th KC.
I love when people-you don’t expect- discuss Hi-Hop and they mention all the popular artist. You wanna shock me that you love Hip-Hop? Mention up and coming artist, you know, Meek Mill, Wale, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Big K.R.I.T or Nipsey Hussle….etc (you know artist that aren’t so generic to like). I hope the intelligent people on here, see where am coming from.
@JustMyOpinion…..Are you blind or what? The INTERVIEWER asked him a question about Em, what did you expect him to say?
I think his answer was really good, he wasn’t saying anything untrue, he wasn’t bragging like he knew what hip-hop is all about. He simply got asked about the concert and he answered how it felt like to be in that concert.
P.S. only 2 of the guys you named deserve to be called hip-hop lol.
Krit and K dot the rest is garbage from ur list
For real like wake up when a motherfucker from Hollywood talks about listening to Souls of Mischeif, Silk the shocker, Nas, Big Pun, Redman, UGK and Dogg pound back in the day and now listens to like The Cool Kids, Elzhi, Currensy, Waka, Odd Future or some shit
Now that would be hilarious and profound lol
too bad eminem is actually not a great performer. every show i’ve seen he’s been lipsyncing.

That’s because you just watch the award shows.
@hands he obviously lip syncs only the chorus…he does the verses
@JustMyOpinion
No one said he was trying to shock anyone. If you listen to upcoming artists just to “be different” your looking at things the wrong way. If you are determined to “think outside the box” and ignore anything mainstream all your doing is putting yourself in an even smaller “box”.
I enjoy the acts jackman mentioned as well as the acts you mentioned, but you need to get over yourself, all the acts you mentioned are signed to major labels and could be described as “generic” in the blog-o-sphere….your not special.
@the guy
The rest is garbage shitt no
J cole is a amazing so is wale
But krit and k dot sure do go ham tho
Ironically…
This is one of the few knocks I have heard about Marshall…
Is that he’s not THAT strong of a live performer….
Especially since he’s been off the drugs….awkward ass motions (i.e. Jimmy Kimmel “Relapse” promo performances, if you don’t believe me)
EMINEM IS THE KING OF HIP HOP! I AM THE KIИG OF RAP RADAR!

nah b, seen him live in NYC a few times. always lipsyncing or rhyming along with his vocals, with the prerecorded vocals way louder than his mic, which to me is lipsyncing. he even lipsynced on letterman when he was performing renegade with hov, and on snl when he was performing no love with weezy.
eminem is definitely goat status, with one of the sickest flows ever, but a great live performer he is not. bussa bus is the live goat.

I get goosebumps every time i see this live. Especially the intro and that “I’m stop sending them women are CAUGHT in webs spin…and so on line from till I collapse. And his little dances, the way he skips on the stage all around and he do it on each song and thats like 2 or more hrs, he must have the energy of a boxer or something. The way he rocks the crow. Its amazing. If hes lipsyncing its only on the hooks tho
50 is killing it in 2011, Jackman is right! “50 Cent in 2011: http://www.kidswastingtime.com/2011/09/things-change-they-dont-stay-same.html“
The king…go fuck yourself already….if u think meek mill wale or j cole’s not dope then u need to see a psychiatrist.
what the hell are you guys talking about with the lip syncing?? it’s simply not true and he obviously isn’t lip syncing. real obvious when he has a hype man who he is clearly going back and forth with on a lot of the lines. just cuz he is one of the verrrry few artists who actually can perform and sound like they do on the cd doesn’t mean it isn’t real……i’ve seen the guy in concert and he sounds the same now as he did 5 years ago or 10 years ago..the only difference is the songs he performs.
[…] Rap Radar […]
hysterical laughter @ Busta Rhymes being the GOAT
Em was definitely NOT lypsyncing at Home nd Home shows…and he wasn’t when I saw him at Lollapalooza this summer. But you guys can say whatever.
I respect the hell out of Hugh Jackman, as an actor and as a person. Seems like such a positive human being.
@JustMyOpinion, a busy guy like Hugh Jackman doesn’t have time to look up rappers like Meek Mill or Cole. He was only being asked questions on specific artistes, and he was sticking to the topic.
