Kanye “Tim Westwood” Freestyle (2005)

Before Kanye resurrected into Yeezus, he kicked a 13 minute freestyle over The Game’s “Dreams” and Common’s “The Corner”. Both tracks were produced by the man himself. Pretty impressive.

and this….ladies and gentlemen… is why hes the GOAT.
this is what a freestyle is supposed to be… not that gay as shit rappers do now a days

  2. duud says:

I wish rappers would still spit real freestyles, instead of holding their blackberries and iphones.

  3. Facts says:

    @ obla

Speaking of gay shit…Kanye wears dresses

  4. LordYeezus says:

This is a true freestyle. I ain’t heard of of these in a long time. All rappers do these days are recycle versus and write shit then call them freestyles.

  5. Johnny Ryall says:

I got it I give it I only give it to guys who really live it like jay-z to game and my dogs who really did like kweli and common and dudes who really spit it

Damnnn needed that, my neck hurts.

  6. Banana Pudding says:

That was nice, kendrick still better off the top

  7. TruthBeTold says:

The freestyle is dope , and I doubt we will hear him do something like again to be honest . & I guess this proves to everyone he writes his own shit

only critisim is how he talks about Diamonds being bad … Then cops a diamond grill > http://smartsexyrichcrazy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/kanye-diamond-grill-400×301.jpg , how many niggas died for that Kanye ?

Still though I miss the days of actual freestylin . Them corporate companies took the soul outta Hiphop and fed us Macklemore .

  8. TruthBeTold says:

    criticism**

  9. TruthBeTold says:

Also , I have to add i miss the times of that playful Kanye West. The media has really gotten to him in recent times .. damn . Seemed like he was enjoying him self here mayn

  10. LuckyLefty says:

TruthBeTold: Calm down. It’s only a persona that Kanye’s portraying. What we see today is merely the latest iteration in the evolution of Mr. West. He will, one day, return to a more playful version of himself. It won’t be the same, but it won’t be as dark as the Kanye we see today.

Also, Macklemore is independent, how is he an illustration of ‘corporate companies taking the soul out of hip hop’?

  11. Damn bru, Really you guys deleted my comment! WTF Just because I said we posted this first on our site!!!

  12. it's the roc says:

  19. SC the 3rd says:

This is the kanye that i rocked with. He’s still good though, but kanye cerca 2005-2007 was phenomenal.

  20. gabriel says:

that’s the thing tho. kanye was hungry as fuck. what made him hungry !? competition! kanye is a bad loser. he hates losing. he never gave up battle unless he won. that’s why he was good at freestylin’. but i still got love for kanye for what he doin’ i don’t think he fell off.

  21. the brain trust says:

    LOVE THIS!

    Kanye’s hunger>>>>>

  22. Nathaniel says:

    young yeezus.

  23. D Twice says:

I don’t know why people are so surprised. You don’t make it as far as Kanye without being able to write rhymes and think of them off the dome. Plus anyone who says Kanye uses ghost writers are hating ass niggas like Consequence who didn’t have the hustle to make it as far as Ye.

  24. T says:

    classic beat

they dont make hip hop like they used to

  25. C says:

    kanye killed it

    hip hops dead

  26. herbsaac says:

Every idiot that said this is a free style is retarded.. He obviously had these rhymes written for this beat.. He had trouble remembering the lines exactly but it was a very dope song.. would love to hear the actual mastered version he has someweher

  27. Jaymalls says:

    @herbsaac

LMAO…he produced those beats himself for OTHER artist! It was clearly a freestyle, not sure if your trolling!

  28. LuckyLefty says:

    LOL @herbsaac.

  29. TruthBeTold says:

@LuckyLefty “Also, Macklemore is independent, how is he an illustration of ‘corporate companies taking the soul out of hip hop’?”

he IS indie , but who do you think chooses who REALLY gets played on the radio & TV? America has 6 companies that control 90% of the media … 232 media executives … 277 Americans .. thats a ratio of 1 exec to 850,000 subscribers..

which is probs why Thrift Shop (a veryyyyy average song) is 6× Platinum in the US & Nas Daughters peaked at number 78 .

Now you tell me which song out of the two is the most soulful ?

I applaud Macklemore for his Indie success but he is hardly a super dope lyrical rhymer , and his image is clearly something which plays a role to his success . . . thats what MTV and these corporations look for …………

  30. LuckyLefty says:

@TruthBeTold I totally agree with you, execs are only looking for something that appeals to the lowest common denominator – Macklemore definitely fits the bill on this.

To be fair though, I don’t think Macklemore is trying to be so hard lyrically. Thrift Shop from a lyrical standpoint can’t compete with Daughters – agreed. But it’s not trying to. Thrift Shop strikes a message that a lot of people can relate to right now – the recession and a global financial crisis. Throw a crazy catchy beat on top and it becomes a hit.

You also have to put responsibility on the people to vote with their wallets, if they want that real shit, go out and buy it. Have the consciousness to realise what you want to see instead of being told what you should see on TV. I bought Life Is Good. I’ve also bought Can’t Hold Us. Personally, Nas should have dropped World’s An Addiction and saw what happened with that. It’s a true anthem.

  31. poplarclap says:

I’m not partial to Kanye, but this was pretty cool. I wish my favourite rappers would do freestyles like this, instead of only writtens anymore. We love it off the top–it doesn’t have to be perfect!

  32. TruthBeTold says:

    @LuckyLefty ,

Can’t argue with anything you said there ! 100

  33. Hip Hop Orangutang says:

THIS is the Ye I want back.
