You niggas are the WORST. First and foremost come up with a criteria that first makes a person a ROOKIE then discuss. Has far as I’m concerned rookie to me is a breakout star people weren’t familiar with the year prior. While, Bobby Shmurda isn’t a bad choice however realistically I’m gonna go with Young Thug. Shame on B.Dot and other dude putting Iggy and YG in the rookie category.

        So much irony. Ha!

    3. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

Like it or not, Iggy had more successful year than YG, Bobby, and Young Thug.

      1. KILLA says:

You are absolutely correct but she is not no damn ROOKIE. It’s an insult to dudes that are making a name for themselves that are indeed rookies. Iggy first mixtape was Ignorant Art which was in 2011 mind you. Not to mention YG was on that mixtape. For a person like you B.Dot who is a “Hip-Hop” blogger you should be familiar with the actual rookies but then again, doesn’t Rapradar only showcase artists that have “made it”? What am I saying y’all posting Tink like she got a Top 40 single, for a second I thought these was 2DBZ. LOL Y’all need Rob Markman on the team he seems to be more in tuned with what’s going on in all sectors of rap/hip-hop.

        1. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

Rob’s the homie. But Iggy’s freshman year will be recognized as 2014. Not 2012 cause XXL said so. Tink has big name collabos and Timbo in her corner. That warrants recognition, no?

          1. Selorm Amuzu says:

No B.Dot, 2014 is Iggy’s breakout year, she has been circulating for the last 2 years, she is no rookie. Her debut single was released last year man… I think you guys really have to re-define what makes a rookie.

          2. Cmon Son says:

This is why niggas don’t respect you. You frame an argument then you can’t even color within the lines because you wanna ride cock of the hot corporate-sponsored flash in the pan aka Iggy. Niggas who live the culture, appreciate the music, & enjoy this shit because it applies to their life see through you check chasing faggots & sad thing is….we don’t even mind that you cashing checks. Just would prefer you knew what the fuck you’re talking about.

          3. Kingly_Caracter says:

I can’t agree with that. Look at sports, and every other “rookie” measuring stick. “Rookie” usually means the first appearance/year of that persons professional career. In raps case…the first time this person was seen on a nationwide scale. Iggy has been out for a long time. She simply got sponsored better this year…hence her dominant presence.

…Beyond all that where does the cultures opinion/impact lie in all of this? I think its unfair to base achievement solely on tweets, like, views, and spins. Almost all of those things could literally be purchased. Lets be honest…when was the last time you heard someone that has roots in the culture (aka.black community) ask if you heard dat new Iggy… I’ve literally never heard one person so far request/discuss Iggy outside of how awkward it is that she’s “leading” the game.

          4. Selorm Amuzu says:

The opinions of the culture lie within the comments made on several media outlets hence the discussions intended from the video. You may think the achievements made is unfair but it is simply turning something subjective to an objective point of view. I am no Iggy supporter but I understand her success because we know which demographic helped make 2014 her year and they are the “PAYING” demographic. The black community may hate it but that is the simple truth and if anything it speaks to more about the hypocrisy of black hip-hop fans who rather support their favourite rapper with mouth than wallet. the real problem here is this idea that because she had a successful mainstream year, Iggy should be rookie of the year by a hip-hop blogger.

My problem with B.Dot is he is revealing himself as mainstream guy running a hip-hop blog site, no one goes to a blog site to know who is in the mainstream, MTV and BET exists for that, people go to a blog site to see who is new (actual rookies) and see their journey to their individual success. My concern is B.Dot will be the same guy who says he fucks with Freddie Gibbs and alienate his achievement because he’s not mainstream yet and judging by this video, album of the year is gonna be very funny !

          5. Kingly_Caracter says:

            Very true. Well said bruh

          6. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

Rap is a mainstream art form. Yes, there is an underground sect, there always has been. Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last 5 years, we cover more of the former. I fucks with freddie gibbs. i think he’s one of the best out. But BE CLEAR, he hasn’t impacted the game yet like an Iggy, Cole, that’s not to mitigate his talent, but he hasn’t made it there yet.

          7. Selorm Amuzu says:

Dude I understand every inch of that paragraph but at the same time Iggy is not in the rookie of the year category because she has been moving for the last 2 years, her work video was in 2013 and I saw it in MTV Base, London so she was as mainstream as now only this year she was more successful

          8. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

Rap is bigger than the black community. but, i know what you mean. I even prefaced in the discussion that i wasn’t a fan of her music, but i’d be remiss to not acknowledge her impact this year. She had the number one AND two songs in the country! The last act to do that was the fucking Beatles. The last female rapper to have #1 was Lauryn Hill! If anything, it’s a sign of the times.

      3. cmonhomiewemajor says:

  3. Kingly_Caracter says:

    Logic…point blank.

  4. ferris prescott says:

You guys should have had the rules set for what qualifies as a rookie before taking it to the camera. Is it debut album? Is it first song or mixtape? What classifies a rookie? With that being said – I say debut album and my vote is definitely Logic.

    1. Chill says:

I would go debut album for rookie of the year criteria as well. And Logic definitely had the strongest body of work.

  5. THE REAL mac DIESEL says:

    1. RightHook says:

      This is the best comment!^^^

  8. yorapper says:

Yeah it kinda irks me to say this but objectively it is Iggy. But this year was one of the worst in hip hop. I’m pretty sure she wont have another hit.

    1. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

      100.

  9. Dsunn says:

is that bdot or memph bleek?

  10. Bagbeatums says:

Everyone dropped the ball here… YG had Tooted and Booted 4 years ago! Iggy is three years in the game. Shrumda is a one hit wonder! Kevin Gates is what defines a Rookie. No album, great mixtapes… And a huge deal with Atlantic. Hands down, Kevin Gates

  11. thetruth says:

man yall bitch about anything. come up with a criteria, come up with a criteria. this is suppose to be a bunch of dudes just chilling talking. when you and your boys be talking its almost exactly like this.

  12. yorapper says:

Oh wait I just realize rookie of the year is Travis Scott. He dropped the best mixtape of the year hands down.

  13. RapReal says:

This is what happens when a cornball record promoter who can’t promote records anymore picks up a camera and assembles a band of busters who don’t contribute to music… but need it to eat. FOH.

  14. bronxbillyunz says:

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR – LIKE IT OR NOT – YOUNG THUG – PERIOD!! HE HAD THE MOST HATE – U GUYS ARE LOST – BOBBY SHMURDA? SONG O THE YEAR – ROOKIE OF THE YEAR !?! FOH – YG IS IN A FUNNY SPOT BCZ HE BEEN OUT FOR YEARS – KINDA LIKE WHEN MEEK GOT ROOKIE OF THE YEAR… BUT HE DESERVED IT THAT YEAR HANDS DOWN – YG DID HIS THING – BUT YOUNG THUG ROY

  15. blackbeltbreeze says:

criteria definitely needed. but watching you have this discussion without the criteria is also entertaining. i predict you will get to friday without mentioning pharaoh monch, freddie gibbs, ciyi the prince, rhapsody, and black milk. i wonder why that is the case though. is it because they are indie? it can’t be that because i doubt you will mention stalley either. is it because they didn’t have that break out single? no its because not enough people talk about them. which is one aspect of hip hop critic culture i don’t like. it’s based on hearsay. what people hear people saying is hot. whereas in film or literature or visual art, some critics can take a lesser known work and evaluate it next to something made by a very well known person, solely on the merits of that body of work, and not necessarily based on its sales or cultural impact.

  16. Yance says:

How isn’t Logic mentioned in this discussion? He wouldn’t be considered Rookie of the Year but he should be in this category. Under Pressure is in the Top 5 albums of the year for sure in terms of content, not #’s.

  17. BurberryBlaze says:

    Isiah Rashad…
