Im only 22 with no history of someone dropping a debut double album. Can some explain if this is a good/bad thing before I judge his desicion lol?

Don’t really matter when you combine both to equal 20 tracks. 20 tracks is a lot, hopefully it isn’t filler. If it would have been 30+ i’d say bold & bad idea.

    2. Kris Kompute says:

The thing with double albums too is that you get double the sales per unit. Thats why it used to happen more in the pre-piracy era when sales was everything.

    3. BCE says:

The Idea behind a double album Artistically is you can have two different narratives telling one story, Give two perspectives etc. But They only issue is creating something that is two separate pieces that are cohesive and still strong enough to be worth that amount of time.

  2. BK James says:

Double albums are always a risky move, but some of my favorite albums are double albums. All Eyez on Me and Life After Death are probably the two best rap examples, but rock albums like The Wall, Exile on Main Street and the Beatles’ white album are all killer albums almost entirely free of filler. For Vince Staples it’s gonna be tough to create a double-length debut that is strong enough to warrant it’s length, especially since there aren’t a lot of big name features to fill the space, but if he pulls this off successfully I’ll be really impressed. I like some of the stuff I’ve heard from him before and right now I’m just hoping this album will at least have one disc worth of filler free material, but if both discs are fire this could be the best rap debut album in years. But that’s a huge if…

Pac Makaveli was a double CD….big life after death was a double CD. Rappers should bring back double CD ‘s.
