Puff’s taking his talents to L.A. As in with Antonio “L.A.” Reid. Today, it was announced Diddy and his Bad Boy Entertainment has partnered with Epic Records with distribution deal for two albums from Diddy as well as marketing for his artists. Billboard reports:
Said Reid in a statement: “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs aka Puff Daddy and I have been musical collaborators since the 1990s, when we both ran independent record labels. … Over the years, we not only enjoyed incredible success together, but we also became lifelong friends. Today, of course, Puffy is truly in a league all his own, continuing to influence culture and ignite musical revolutions time and time again. He’s a true innovator and I could not be more excited to join forces once again.”
“I have known L.A. Reid since the very beginning and together we have enjoyed countless successes over our long friendship,” added Combs. “To now work with L.A. in this capacity feels more like a homecoming than a new beginning. Not only is he a fearless and smart businessman, he believes in artists and understands music better than anyone. He embodies hard work and true success, evident in all of his endeavors. To collaborate with L.A. Reid is to collaborate with the very best.”

Congrats, to Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs & The Bad Boy Family. Hopefully, Puff can get the Epic Records staff to work hard, to re-establish the success that Bad Boy had from 1994 to 2004/2005. Hopefully, Puff can bring those gold, platinum and multi-platinum full length album plaques back, again…!

You think because these artist’s are signed to Bad Boy (the production company)…you think the parent company is releasing these acts without Puff having to buy them out?? If he wanted to spend that amount of money, he could have released his music wholly independent if that was the case.
So I’ll state again…I HOPE he signs and develops new acts.

Yeah I think your mistaken on how the industry works.. MGK and French are signed to bad boy via inter scope he still owns there contracts that’s why The agreement was to still market his artist.. They can’t legally put out music on those artist via his deal threw epic however there no harm no foul with epic simply promoting them.. They didn’t give puff a label deal they gave him a artist deal therefore he won’t be signing any artist to bad boy/epic the deal is for him to put out two albums of his own..
I work for a label fam, have been in the game for 15+ years…I’m very clear on how the inner workings go… So let me just clear up some of that mis-information you just stated then we can go about having a good evening.
The title says Bad Boy PARTNERS with Epic. Puff is too much of a boss to just sign as an artist…even it is for a 2 Puff albums…Puff as a legend has leverage an “artist” don’t…it will be Bad Boy/Epic Records…on ALL labels and promotions. There aren’t too many “artists” who have the power.
Also…unless Interscope & Atlantic, the 2 labels which have Puff’s only active artists agree do a joint album ala “WATTBA” or “Watch The Thrown”…you tell me WHY would Epic send ANY bread promoting those artist that are SIGNED to another label?? and French, MGK, Janelle don’t really fit the bill for joint albums with an artist on Epic’s roster. You answered the questioned semi-correctly the first time, except you mentioned that Epic would simply “PROMOTE” them. That’s wholly incorrect. Why would The Mavericks promote a player who plays for The Cavs??
Without getting to smarty art…you’re wrong…and I don’t see any joint projects coming out between the two labels being that at this current juncture Puff is the only artist signed DIRECTLY to Bad Boy…all the others are via another label.
