    2. Mr C says:

lmao… No it’s because they want a gateway to the mainstream. If people see the name “rick ross” on the track name….. More likely to get more listeners.

      1. TBomb says:

So Jay n Nas 2 of the greatest Rappers of all time to whom Rick Ross was the ONLY rapper to be featured on both they last albums worked with him for tht reason? Lmao..u niggas hatred for Ross is so dumb n hilarious at the same damn time

        1. Lego Ninja says:

Because clearly Rick Ross has a younger fanbase!! You really are retarded!!

          1. Room 222 says:

You need to come up with a plausible argument.

In the meantime though recognize Rozay’s vocal prowess and impeccable production (whether Trap or Soulful).

          2. Lego Ninja says:

I don’t need to do shit, son!! And fuck a “impeccable production”!! 100’s of weak ass rappers have “impeccable production”!!! His lyrics are nothing but simplistic bullshit that doesn’t peak my interest… I don’t need plausible argument to have a personal opinion, which I hadn’t really given previously on this post. I simply wrote that Rick Ross fanbase is of a younger generation than Jay-Z and Nas’ fanbase. A lot of older rappers hop on songs or feature the new/whoever’s hot artist. Nothing new.. Don’t mean shit! Jadakiss and Fab been on songs with every fucking weak rapper known to man, just because that particular rapper was poppin’ at the time…

          3. Room 222 says:

At least you do recognize that Rozay’s productions are impeccable.

          4. Lego Ninja says:

Absolutely… His delivery is nice, and his voice is great for rapping. BUT, I prefer MC’s who display more lyrical capabilities and technique. I like some bullshit every now and then, but I never press “play” on it myself, it’s usually some fucktard that I’m hanging with.
Travesty that more lyrical stuff doesn’t get its proper recognition.

          5. Room 222 says:

Glad to know you admit Ross has a nice flow and that his voice is great for rapping, and his production selection is impeccable. We can all agree on that!

As for the lyrical content, most mainstream rappers don’t rap about anything positive. If positive lyrics were that important then Common, Talib Kweli, Chuck D, Rakim would sell millions of records today but that’s not the case.

Even Biggie who’s considered Top 5 DOA didn’t have positive lyrics. He may have clever wordplay but there was nothing really positive about his lyrical content. At least not the kind I get from many 2pac songs.

          6. THE ALMIGHTY MIKEY ESCO!!! says:

TAKE YO ASS TO 2DOPEBOYZ ,METALLUNGIES OR STFU AND ENJOY THE SITE!!! TIRED OF YOU BAMAS COMPLAINING ABOUT LYRICAL
            CONTENT!!! FK YO FEELINGS!!!

          7. Lego Ninja says:

You’re mad late.. Like your mom’s period! Should’ve just never shown up.. like your father!

          8. THE ALMIGHTY MIKEY ESCO!!! says:

KILL YA SELF ASAP!!! FK YO FEELINGS BAMA!!!

          9. Lego Ninja says:

            You maaaad

          10. thetruth says:

            shut the fuck up forever

          11. Lego Ninja says:

            You mad?

          12. cooliehi says:

I’m in my 30s n i know a lot of cats my age that fuck with rick. same person that put me on rick hip me to aesop rock back in the day??

          13. Room 222 says:

Exactly old hip hop heads do listen to Ross as well. Some ppl hate just for the hell of it.

      2. realish says:

Haha ross gateway to mainstream?? just admit ross is this generations biggie smalls. he’s not as lyrical but his flow hooks n style just like bigs

        1. Mr C says:

If he was this generations biggie smalls, he’d also have the lyricism as well as the other things you mentioned. So he is NOT our generations biggie.

Can’t cherry pick. If he’s this generations biggie… He either has all the qualities or the comparison is invalid. There may be similarities… But the foundation to biggies career WAS his lyricism.. So trying to compare ross, with just a flow and barely similar hooks doesn’t make sense js

        2. BK!! says:

STOP!!!Do not ever say that again.BIG is in a class Ross could never ever ever be in.Never!Never disrespect BKS FINEST!Fuck out of here!

      3. Room 222 says:

If what you’re saying is true then that must mean Rick Ross must be doing something right.

        1. Mr C says:

Yup, he is doing something right… Taking money from fools who’s standards for hip hop doesn’t expand past trap music….

          1. Room 222 says:

Ross excels both at Trap and Soulful productions.

          2. Mr C says:

            Ok… Thats production?

Doesn’t mean you can discount lyricism.

A good artist has a proper balance of lyrics and beats. Not just one.

          3. Room 222 says:

            How do you define lyricism?

Give me concrete examples of rappers who, in your opinion, meet that requirement.

          4. Mr C says:

Lyricism is the combination of rhymes (including mults- which many artists lack), metaphors, punchlines, double entendres etc used to paint pictures in a audible way. Creating art, aka music with substance. If done correctly, it enables the artist to connect to the fan on a level that grasps their undivided attention.

Examples of artists would be Kendrick Lamar, Big Daddy Kane, Pharaohe Monch, Eminem, Rakim, Royce Da 5’9, Pusha T, Logic

      4. marty mcfly says:

Royce did a whole album with Eminem. There is nothing more “mainstream” then that unless you do an album with Katy Perry.

        1. Mr C says:

Eminem doesn’t have the mainstream appeal that he used to so thats invalid.

          1. marty mcfly says:

Eminem doesn’t have mainstream appeal? You must be out your mind.

          2. Mr C says:

It’s not just the sales, it’s also many of his old fans no longer feeling his music, like myself. I’ve met so many people who USED to like eminem more than ones who actually like him… To the point where it’s messed up. I see your point, but lets face it.. No ones dying their hair blonde anymore, radio/mainstream media doesn’t play his shit like they used to… News isn’t putting his name in the headlines no more…

Em lost a good amount of momentum after his post-encore hiatus. His clothing line, the slim shady show, G unit.. That entire empire is pretty much dead. As an em fan from ’99 it pains me to say it.

But i would agree he still has alot more mainstream appeal than most rappers. However it’s just not the same.

          3. marty mcfly says:

It don’t matter, whenever you mention the name EMENIM period. You bring in huge masses of a commercial audience. Thats just a fact.

          4. Mr C says:

Yes it does matter. Maybe not to you, but the details are important. History is PROOF that em’s mainstream appeal isn’t what it once was.

Now yes, when you mention eminem it automatically brings in a big audience… No kidding. His name has become a brand if anything. I’ve never denied that, as it is fact.

But that doesn’t automatically mean, he has the mainstream appeal and effect on everyone like he once did. He just doesn’t. You’d be denying the reality around you to think otherwise.. But you believe whatever you like… I’m not wasting anymore time discussing this.

          5. marty mcfly says:

Isn’t what it used to be? Can you imagine how many people listen to his music online? Its probably well into the hundreds of millions. Eminem does strictly arenas around the world and there filled to capacity ok. Yes his name is a brand in itself. He don’t have to have the same appeal he did in 1999 but again anytime he comes out with an album? An EXTREME amount of mainstream ears come running to listen as if he’s the rap version of Taylor Swift. Its gets no more mainstream then Eminem unless your talking about the cultural icons that are legends at this point. Doing an album with Eminem is like doing an album with white Jesus.

          6. Kris Kompute says:

Preach. Eminem is the only rapper doing stadiums. Mf headline wembley.

50 summarized it best. When you ask white people do they listen to rap they “Yea I listen to Em”

          7. marty mcfly says:

Yes history is PROOF and history says Eminem is white peoples Michael Jackson

          8. Savimbi says:

            You bugging.

      5. cooliehi says:

royce can’t use that gateway to get into the mainstream. if the youngins standards are so low then what’s the point.

    3. Lego Ninja says:

It’s to siphon his fanbase!! That’s all.

      1. TBomb says:

        Nigga wht? Lmao

        1. Lego Ninja says:

          Clearly you’re retarded

          11. el jim chapo guzman says:

rick ross need to worry about Haitian Fresh…. Haitian Fresh might shoot the nigga in Miami.

          12. Room 222 says:

Seriously though who’s Haitian Fresh? Never heard of him. Is he a rapper or something?

Ross is a much better rapper than Filthy Scent.

          13. el jim chapo guzman says:

            Ask Ricky about the zoe’s

          14. MR. UNDI$PUTED THE MOGUL says:

I NEVER SAID HE’S COMPLETELY BROKE BUT IF RICK ROSS HAD SAID TO A JUDGE IN COURT THAT HE WAS FLASHING FAKE $$$ ON INSTAGRAM YOU MMG HATER’S WOULD’VE LOST YOUR MINDS!!!

  13. Nathaniel says:

y’all ain’t know that was Farrakhan on the intro, and in between the verses, though… Layers.

  14. Room 222 says:

Love the production. This is the kind of beats Ross excels at. All the verses are good as well.

  15. Van Sertima says:

Nickel, thanks for making an album I’m actually looking forward to buying. Dope.

  16. Van Sertima says:

Royce is just on a different level

  17. Room 222 says:

It’s funny to see some miserable people still try to discredit Ross when the man has made records with Jay-Z, Nas, Dr Dre, Andre 3000, Styles P, Jadakiss, DJ Premier, Erykah Badu, Mary J Blige, Kanye West, Cee-Lo Green, Kool G Rap.The list goes on and on.

    Bow Down, losers.

    2. WHATS YOUR POINT STAN? says:

Jadakiss and Styles will make songs and videos with anyone if you cut that check. Teenage wiggers rapping about guns and Maybachs included (Lil Ty -Ridin Around ft Jadakiss)

Nas has also made records with Tyga, Korn and Justin Bieber. Jay-Z got songs with Linkin Park.

    3. ilexx says:

Since you think everybody makes excuses, I will just state the facts.

Rick Ross is the ONLY artist who has collaborated with all those people and still hasn’t sold any damn records. Literally, he got on a platform with all these platinum selling artists and legends but was unable to convert their fanbase into fans of his own on any lvl.

You are championing that he has worked with those people but don’t recognize that if those opportunities were given to others, they would’ve done more with it. Unfortunately, highlighting that he has worked with all those people but yet he’s on a sales decline displays how disappointing Rick Ross’ career actually is.

I’ve been your fan #nickle from 2011, I am sorry I started listening music from 2011, I heard you on #badmeetsevil track – #fast_lane and that moment only I understood that, if there is someone in the rap game today who can match the level of Eminem it’s you- being the flow, the lyrical shit anything… And from that day, i used to bump all ur songs and eventually became ur fan :* As you said and which I also feel, u are the 2nd best rapper alive !

Rick Ross get so much because of his past job as a co but as long as he didn’t snitch, streetwise, i would look at it as, he can be a asset to our side, As far as what he spoke about Eminem, there wasnt a on going situation,so to me, its left at that….
