New Music: Eminem Ft. Beyonce “Walk On Water”

When It Freezes

Eminem takes a moment to reflect on this first dose off his upcoming album, Revival. Floating on gentle pianos and a hook from Beyonce, Marshall looks back at his lustrous career produced by Rick Rubin and co-produced and co-written by Skylar Grey. Bitch, he wrote “Stan”!

  7. Infinite80's says:

I don’t know why he keeps tryna make hits with these corny songs.
    Waste of a Beyonce feature.
    Waste of a first single.
Maybe it’s just the engineer but this doesn’t sound right.

  8. Marshall says:

Couldn’t even finish listening to the song

  9. M.A.T. says:

This is what happens when Dr. Dre isn’t involved. Dre helped him write good songs. Now he’s all over the place. All of his new songs are the same. Get a female singer on the chorus and ramble. That or he makes a song rhyming a lot which is impressive, but you can’t sing along to it and it has no replay value.

People gave Andre 3000 shit for his recent interview where he said he didn’t want to be rapping in his 40’s, but at least his legacy is still in tack and he’s not giving us songs like this.

    1. hahahaha says:

I dunno I dont think Dre was as instrumental as Proof. If you listen to old Proof mixtapes they sound just like shadys old flow.

It is why relapse still has that old sound there was still some proof infuence on those tracks.

Eminem can still rap that way, but he only does every so once and yadda yadda.

Wicked ways from MMLP 2 and So bad from Recovery are examples of this. He had a few on the album with Royce, namely a track called the reunion.

but that album was mainly the continuation of his shouty style that he started on recovery.

I dont know if eminem doesn’t like to go back to the place or the headspace he has to be in to rhyme like his old self but I think it also had to do with all of the influence that proof had. Every time eminem was in the studio proof was in there with him. Bouncing ideas off each other whatever.

That influence is gone so either he doesn’t like to be that way without proof and it emotionally hurts to do it, or he can’t do it as well so he ust goes crazy with the metaphors and punch lines.

      I miss shady with proof.

    3. shut up says:

Hmm, weird cuz, The Eminem Show was 90% self-produced by Eminem himself, and that’s consistently seen as his best album to date with the first MMLP. He doesn’t need Dr. Dre’s help to make “hit songs.”

Eminem was rapping acapella over a piano beat in a 5/4 time signature. I want to see you try and rap in a odd-time beat w/o the use of drums or snares. I bet most of these new age rappers wouldn’t even know what that meant.

      1. M.A.T. says:

Look it’s just my opinion and personal preference. I feel like the bigger he got, the more likely he made his own decisions instead of being mentored and that’s when he started going down hill. And you kind of just proved my point about rapping in an odd-time beat, his new stuff isn’t something people can sing along to. I think he’s putting too much focus on rhyming, because he’s kind of done it all and is bored instead of just making a good song. Are his rhymes impressive? Sure. Is that something that’s going to make me keep coming back and listening to it? No.
