Last night, the 2018 BET Awards took place at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater to honor music, sports and film in black entertainment.

During the show, Meek Mill made his return to the awards for a live debut of his single, “Stay Woke.”. Along with Miguel, the powerful performance brought the Philly streets on stage where police brutality takes place, a young girl shot dead and an overly- populated jail.

Hosted by Jamie Foxx, TDE’s Jay Rock opened up the ceremony with the victorious anthem,”WIN.” The winnings continued with other performances including J.Cole, Migos, Miguel, SiR, Nicki Minaj, YG, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, H.E.R., Daniel Caesar, Elle Mai, Janelle Monae and Snoop Dogg. R&B legendary singer Anita Baker was given this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award following a tribute from Jamie Foxx, Marsha Ambrosius, Ledisi, and Yolanda Adams.

Winners for the evening included Kendrick Lamar (Best Album) for DAMN., Beyonce (Best Female R&B,) Bruno Mars (Best Male R&B,) Migos (Best Group,) DJ Khaled (Best Collaboration) for “Wild Thoughts,” Kendrick Lamar (Best Male Hip Hop,) Cardi B (Best Female Hip Hop and Viewer’s Choice for “Bodak Yellow,”) Drake (Best Video) for “God’s Plan,” SZA (Best New Artist,) and more.
