R.I.P. Popa Wu
Peace God.
The Wu-Tang Clan and their fans has lost a great one. It’s been confirmed that Wu-Tang affiliate and family member of RZA, GZA, and ODB, Popa Wu has unexpectedly passed away. He was 63.
Members of the Wu confirmed the tragic news with their condolences via social media including Cappadonna, GZA, Young Dirty Bastard, Raekwon, U-God, Ghostface Killah, and Method Man.
Known as the group’s spiritual mentor, Popa Wu, who is also a member of the Five Percent Nation, is most known for his appearances on various projects from the Wu including his debut appearance on Raekwon’s “North Star” as well as Ghostface Killah’s “Black Jesus” and his spoken word on Wu-Tang Forever‘s opening track, “Wu-Revolution“. In 2000, he released an album of his own, Visions of the Tenth Chamber. Our condolences during this difficult time.
My favorite popa wu moment is when he wore a ski mask and pretended to be ODB in the triumph video. RIPFREEDUM
