Album: Terrace Martin ‘Drones’

Terrace Martin hovers Crenshaw with his new album, Drones.

Lead by the groovy single “Leave Us Be“, the three-time Grammy winning musician, artist, and producer lends his services from the saxophone to the piano, and behind the mic for the 13-track set.

Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, James Fauntleroy, and Snoop Dogg all appear on the title track “Drones”, and Cordae stars on “Work It Out”. YG and Malaya collaborate on “Evil Eyes”, while Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, and Hit-Boy lend their contributions with “Griots Of The Crenshaw District”.

Other appearances include D Smoke, Smino, Arin Ray, Leon Bridges, James Fauntleroy, Kim Burrell, Robert Glasper Channel Tres, and Celeste.

“There are touches of R&B, touches of jazz, touches of hip-hop, touches of classical, Cuban music, West African music, house music,” says Martin. “You’re going to hear all elements of Black music within this record. It’s not one element I can leave out if I call myself a true Black artist.”

This marks Terrace Martin’s first project since last year’s Dinner Party and Dinner Party: Dessert EPs. Most recently, he collaborated with YG and Nick Grant.
