Drake Take Care Hits Number One
November 23, 2011 @ 9:28 AM EST
News
If we talkin’ bout the numbers, it’s lookin’ like roughly 659,190 copies. As of tomorrow, Drake will return to the top of the Billboard charts. If the number holds up, Take Care becomes the second highest solo rap debut this year. Official tally in the morning.
UPDATE: Final number via SoundScan: 631,466
Digital: 264,845 | CD: 366,621
I already knew this was gonna come…
Congrats I guess, but that album was garbage to be honest…I know all the female fans & Homos will come mad at me, but it’s true…
5% = Rap 95% = Love songs
it’s a point where i think lil wayne is better off singing and Drake is better off rapping now lol.
hip hop lost
FIRST BITCHES…I SUCK DICK LIKE I SUCK DRAKES DICK BITCHES…SUCK IT WORLD!
Webbie at 26k deserves its own post, sir.
very good album, classic R&B style and good raps
Cash money making cash money! Wait tel nicki come out with the 2nd album bet its 700,000 easy
obviously even drake knows that its coz of the Rnb content and the female fans… but 600k + in the 1st week is Huge in any genre of music!!!
Congrats to Drizzy Drake. Fav tracks are “Lord Knows”, “Underground Kings”, and “Practice”. Take Care was worth buying and is the second best album of the year behind Cole World.
take care the bizness
Damn Taylor Swift numbers, makes sense tho it’s the same fan base.

No shit it hits number one. Congrats to Drake for a good album. Lord Knows and Undergound Kings were more than enough to make up for the sappy love songs thats become his trademark. You cant fault him for doing something thats he well known for. If Cole had sappy love songs, then id prolly complain a bit. But from Drake? Come on. Thats like faulting Eminem for rapping about gore and not enough true street shit. Its his trademark. I cant get mad at that.
Cole World > Take Care > Ambition > All these other wack ass freshman.
I was expecting more.
I’m a J Cole fan, but i believe Cole had an estimate 217,324 coppies sold. Why are you guys still comparing Drake to J Cole?
By the way, artists don’t rich off of album sales.
@Able Danger
ahahahahahahah so true!
Another YMCMB album outselling “The Throne”, what else is new. When Nicki drops 1st quarter next year she’ll flirt with 1mil in the first week. Young Money/Cash Money is dominating the industry on some Motown type steez, respect the TRUE crown holders. Plus doing it all with a distribution deal and full ownership of their master. One day y’all gonna get that camel piece out your mouth long enough to pay homage to the urban music dynasty that’s been doing it for over a decade already. While Hov is busy selling out his brothers that helped built his brand (Dame and Biggs) to cozy up to the Tall Isrealis, the Williams Brothers did it their way and kept it 100% black owned…pay homage joe
Get rich*
all you people are fools to still trust soundscan and billboard.
all these numbers are fabricated in one way or another.
wonderful art. of course its number one. it didnt have enough ignorant stuff though so of course it wasnt liked by all Hip Hop fans. Drake doesnt have to be considered Hip Hop but when he’s rapping he is one of the best Hip Hop artists around now like it or not. and his singing makes him different but his art is amazing. some people just will never understand though smh

“If the number holds up, Take Care becomes the second highest solo rap debut this year.”
Take Care is not a debut, and who is first then cuz I don’t think anyone has sold that much with a debut this year?
@Dujay they mean debut week, as in 2nd highest rap album 1st week after C4’s 970K
^
Thank you. Wayne debuted with a million this year or close to it anyway
@Product of Chicago – Hov still has more money than all of them though. Imean album sales are fine for ppl who only have their hand in the music industry, but Hov’s reach extends in a variety of industries. I dont think he could care less if C4 or Take Care outsold Watch The Throne. Dude is caked up off VARIOUS other business ventures. Thats something no one in YMCMB could ever know about. Nobody wants to do business with untrusworthy ass niggas like Birdman, Pot head skater boarders like Wayne, or Scizophrenic porn stars like Nicki. Drake, yeah maybe. Until niggas in YMCMB is pullin in bank like Jay, then he will always win on the long run.
@B.Dot Why do comments sometimes no go through? Shit is mad annoying.
^
i know. alot of em automatically go into moderation and then i have to MANUALLY approve. its a fucking pain in the ass
the fuck ? he got some ladys with his soft songs .pretty awful album
Its a good day for R&B

Best song in the album imo is “Shots for me” the whole album is dope. OvOXo #TakeCare
in Ten Years from now, look back. Take Care is Classic.
Drake > Kanye & Jay z…Number’s don’t lie GET MAD.
@word
yes he doesnt care but doesnt mean hes better then drake or wayne..drake has already hit milestones that jay hasnt hit in his 10 plus year career..jay has been a consisten good rapper…never major hits never major album sales but hes stuck around..even if the second half has been because kanye keeps him close by..i feel bad for kanye though cuz i think he would so much more of a legend if he didnt big up jay so much..your your own man nigga gets some balls..and for that he will always be below jay z
but anyways drake is the leader of the new school wether you want to except it or not
who cares about money, an artists worth is based on how much he sells. and they dont even get much of that money. so if Hovs the richest. it doesnt make him the best. if anything the fact that he has stuck around the game for so long without falling off makes him the best. but as an artist all he does is talk about how much money he has now so if he’s compared to the artists now days. he isnt as good as them and the sells will always prove that. he doesnt rap for us anymore he raps for the ballers. but thats my dawg though i just wish he’d switch it up more. New Day, Murder To Excellence, and Welcome To The Jungles good though so i feel like he may be adapting to the game now
TAKE CARE>>>>>>>>>>>>>WTT
maybe
lil boosie>>>>>drake
drake is garbage
Wow I’m surprised @Word made a comment on somebody else. But notice he he had to mention J. Cole. You Fag
cash money is a pop label
i like dicks in my ass
funny thing is that for a general consumer..they wouldnt even know nicki wayne and drake were in the same team
and thats what makes it all great..just cuz one falls off doesnt mean the others will cuz they all 3 stand on there own….hence 50 cent sitution
Didn’t Thank Me Later sell 400k? Take Care had more buzz.
guys relate to this, atleast i know i do. thats why guys buy Take Care. some people actually talk to females and all. i mean i guess the ones that dont like Drake should be coming out of the closet soon if they dont relate to him
pop corny album
rick ross>>>>>>>>>>ymcmb
fake ass nigga think he SADE
Album of the year no fucking doubt. And it outsold the throne and cole. Smh at you dusty faggots/no pussy getting niggas getting mad. Take care, Ymcmb belee dat blud
Radioactive >
This album was garb….
Take Care is the album of the year to me, only album I might call better or just as good is Watch The Throne, congrats to Drizzy!
good album, not great. numbers are great though, no doubt. but people comparing this album sales, and other cash money sales, to watch the throne are forgetting that watch the throne deliberately was not marketed/. no appearances on Lettermen to promote the album. it was a bit of a concept album, and still sold well, and still went platinum
I’m not saying that sales mean everything, my opinion is that Kendrick Lamar had the album of the year thus far, and he certainly did not have anywhere near the sales that the heavy hitters (right now) are putting up. Just simply stating the facts.
As for the quality of this album, and most of the recent hip hop releases like Mac Miller, J.Cole, Wale, and Tha Carter 4, I am slightly dissapointed. I’ll still listen, Still a Hip Hop fan, but to be honest, it’s nothing special.
I actually got more out of The Game’s R.E.D. album than any of these, and I don’t even mess with The Game like that. Hopefully TM103 will bring my mood up, but for now I’ll just keep bumping Kendrick.
@…. – Read my first comment. I support Drake. And yes, in terms of HITS…Drake has more. Number one songs? Drake has more. First week numbers? I dont think Hov has ever topped 600k first week but im not sure. But thats about all Drake has over Jay though. Number one albums, Platinum plaques, Streak of Number one albums, Classic reviews, longevity, Hov as all that. In this day and age, a Drake album will most likely never even sniff 5million sold. TML is where? 2 or 3 million sold right now?
No hate to Drake. I liked Take Care. But for @Product Of Chicago to try and compare Drake, or anyone in YMCMB, to Hov in terms of sales, accomplishments, money, or ANYTHING is ridiculous. Too soon bruh. Not saying Jay-Z is better than Drake because of sales or money. Jay is better than Drake because of far more than that. Classic albums. Timeless music. Appeal. Respect. Intangible things like that.
[…] Source: RapRadar […]
And cosign @toad. RED album was one of the hottest albums out this year to me but if I say I like RED album, ppl will dismiss my opinion just because its Game and he’s washed up on the sales side of things. Its funny really. K.Dot is up there too but not too many ppl know of him yet so I think its best to just stick to the mainstream releases that most ppl keep up with.
“Take Care becomes the second highest solo rap debut this yea”
really, this albums is considered rap? Wow, we lost our genre.
Ok, tell me why is Ke$ha considered a rap album then? She raps on all her song, while singing on it majority of it. No difference with Drake here. SMH. You people.
Plus, how is this a debut? if on the chart was meant, as write you should articulate that idea better. it gives impression an actual debut CD being release for the year by an artist.
‘Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t’
Eat shit hov, Take Care over all
only girls and homosexuals listen to aubrey.
No matter what any of you say YMCMB shits on the entire rap game. Drake Nicki and Waynes first week sales put together probly account for more than any other record label will do in a entire year………………………….. Insert hate below.
Hiphop is dead we need new genre
I hearing all of the jokes…I know they are trying to push me and.. I know showing emotion doesnt make me a pussy… know that I don t make music for niggas that dont get pussy so those are the ones i count on to dis me! Nuff Said
@drakesucks.. if thats true imagine if dudes listened to it too! smh.. get it together dumbfuck
Y’all YMCM dickriders are idiots if y’all don’t think these numbers are bought
men lie, women lie…..
Nice done Birdman
YMCMB win ..Hater ,J Cloe fans, Jay Z and Kanye West fans lose.
HIP-HOP ALBUMS OF THE YEAR: 1. Cole World: The Sideline Story 2. Camp 3. Watch The Throne 4. Take Care 5. Finally Famous 6. Section 80 7. The R.E.D Album 8. Goblin 9. Ambition 10. Carter 4
so lemme get this straight…if you sell under 200,000 copies it’s a flop….and anything over 200,000 is fabricated numbers…ok I get it…y’all are the reason why hip-hop is on it’s last legs & niggas are changing their sound just to sell records…
….Katy Perry sold under 200,000 her first week too guess she flopped huh?.
Good for Drake. Congrats my dude. Take Care is the best album of the year in my opinion. A little better than Watch the Throne. Keep it up. Right now Drake is King.
pretty solid album. But its not anything extraordinary. The beats on watch the throne were on a whole other level honestly. And drake didnt have that one song that blew me away. I knew Take Care was going to be a great album which is exactly what it was. Great album yes, Instant classic no.
Man. There is a lot of hate on here. Why are people comparing drake to jay-z. Drake did good numbers. Let him have that. He supposed to outsell jay if you ask me. Jay at the back end of his career. Drake at the beginning. But on some real shit, let him beat jay first. Blueprint outsold thank me later, right? And how you gonna compare a group album to a solo album. That’s lame. How many album sells did that young money album do? Idiots.
@man all drakes talks about is money too. Or else him calling some chick bitch. Fact, he ain’t calling no chicks bitch to they face. Drake idealizes Jay-z.
At the cat who said kanye always holding up jay. Nobody says more gay shit about his boss than drake. Except way e who makes border line homo claims about birdman.
You. Ate kill me. Saying all jay talks about is money but then you listening to Wayne and drake like they Nas or something. C’mon. If they deep, then based god really is the second coming.
Congrats to Drake
but that album still soft as fuck
You know back in the day 600k would amount to 4 to 5mill overall, how times have changed
this sh really has to get approved now?
didn’t realize everyone in the world is a fucking critic now. some people saying great album yes, classic no. just take in the fucking music, if u saying its good its good, its great its great. fine. “OMG this is a great album, but its not number one, its number two.” SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY U FUCKS! damn if yall needed to be hired as critics and as music reviewers you would. BUT YOUR NOT. so get off with all this ranking nonsense. and just listen to the fuckin music. you guys dissect shit way too damn much and listen way too less. JUST KUS U GOTTA A KEYBOARD DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO TYPE!
Drake’s album is alright. He progressed musically.Shit is just emo and RnB.A dude was saying he was gonna do 300K on twitter.Nigga please.Dude is gonna be around the rest of your life so deal with it.Not something I wanna hear all the time but a solid album
New Loch LiL Wayne and Drake She Will freestyle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvjwtcT4RHk
@hoodierap i doubt niggas need rappers to croon about love when you could listen to rnb on your own time. Drake talks shit as though he’s the best RAPPER in the game so when you buy his album and he’s crooning like he’s Ne-Yo its a disappointment, not because of niggas dont get pussy
loch121 I just checked out some your videos, you’re dope man !
this is garbage…
best albums of the year : 1 The R.E.D. Album 2. WTT 3. Follow Me Home 4. Section 80 5. Cole World 6. C4
The only people who listen to Drake are depressed white kids.. enough said.
http://bit.ly/akyROd
I think I just seen somebody say jay ain’t never been consistent or have major album sales.. What the fuck are u talking about?! Dude has more #1 albums on billboard than everybody except the Beatles.. More than Michael Jackson, Elvis etc.
his jewish parents bought all the copies
Co-sign “hip-hop lost”
AND
RADIOACTIVE>>>>
Drake sold more digital copies than J. Cole alone. Also sold more CD copies alone. He shattered Cole World sales. Drake went gold in a week, while J. Cole still stuggling. Its time to crown the King.
it’s so sad watching hiphop/rap going down like this… ;/ calling that album hiphop/rap record is like calling justin bieber a guy… where are all these artists who are really connected with real rap… i hope yelawolf will make something with it if eminem can’t ;/
R.I.P 90′-00′ Rap, you’ll be missed…
Its funny when niggas on here put shit like only people who buys Drake cd is etc etc etc, like they really know who’s buying his shit. Hell when I was in Best Buy there was plenty of niggas buying his shit. 2nd I Cosign what @Word said for the people complainin about the singin shit or it bein to soft well its Drake so the last thing u should expect is some hard shit. I listened to that album expectin it to be a R&B type album and for the most part it was R&B/Hip-Hop album. End of the day I’m not a Drake fan cause he’s a cornball but his music is good and I can’t hate on a nigga sellin 600k in a week.
@ Sc_R
WHAT DOES THAT TELL US ABOUT HIS OVERALL SALES THO??????
Wayne stay winning
I usually listen to street shit but sometimes u gotta switch it up. I think Take Care is a dope album, even the R&b joints, specially if u into chics, if u not into chics then u might not like this album lol
Anything > Drake

Album of the year
1 – WTT
2 – Section 80
3 – Camp
4 – Ambition
5 – Sideline Story
6 – BME
7 – Radioactive
@Awesome congrats on the first intelligent comment on this post..
Also, it’s funny all you faggots saying numbers don’t lie and that high record sales prove who’s better.. If that was true, then Vanilla Ica and MC Hammer are both better than 2Pac and Biggie and the backstreet boys were the best rappers of the 90s.. And grouping them in with rappers isn’t too far of a stretch considering people call drake a rapper when he’s nothin more than an r&b pop star that will do anything that will sell most to you dumbasses that love the same message and unoriginality in all of your music..
hahaha dude put radioactive in his album of the year and it didn’t even drop yet. YOU SOUND STUPID.
typo. it didn’t even sound good.
YOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!! CHECK IT EVERYONE MY FIRST SINGLE OFF MY UPCOMING SOLO MIXTAPE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS CALLED UNFORGETTABLE !!!!!
SHOW SOME LOVE AND LISTEN !!!!!!!!!! THANKS !!!!!
Drake is an emotional rapper, nigga talkin about cuddling with hoes and shit smh
This nigga lyrical content is mediocre he just found his lane and exploited the fuck out of it.
