Musical legend Little Richard has died in Nashville today. The musician’s son Danny Penniman confirmed the news with Rolling Stone, but his cause of death is unknown. He was 87.

As one of the founding fathers of Rock, Little Richard played a key role in other genres including soul and funk. During his career he released a string of hits including the 1950 hits “Tutti Frutti,” “Long Tall Sally,” and “Good Golly, Miss Molly”. The music icon also made numerous appearances in children’s programming including “The Magic School Bus,” the Sesame Street “Rubber Ducky”, and more.

Little Richard was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s first class in 1986. He was invited to perform at Bill Clinton’s presidential inauguration in 1992 and also received the Lifetime Achievement Grammy award the following year. Most recently, Little Richard was inducted into The Library of Congress in 2010 for “Tutti Frutti”. R.I.P.
