Doechii, born Jaylah Ji'mya Hickmon, is an American rapper and singer who is quickly climbing the charts. Originally from Florida, she began making waves in the music world in 2015, releasing her first songs on SoundCloud during her high school years. After releasing two mixtapes in 2019 and 2020, she rose to fame in 2023 with the single What It Is, which topped the Billboard charts. That same year, she headlined the Coachella Festival and made her acting debut in the film Earth Mama. Her 2024 mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, received three nominations at the 2025 Grammy Awards, in the categories of Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, and Best New Artist. Her career is constantly on the rise, and Doechii is establishing herself as one of the most promising figures in the contemporary rap scene.
