Remember the big Louie V struggle around X-Mas time last year between the Capo and Ty-Ty’s brother? Ne-Yo probably still has nightmares about it. Ha! Anyways, justice was served this morning. Or was it? Jones entered his plea to the misdemeanor charge Monday. He was sentenced to time served — the few hours he was in custody after turning himself in to police in January. Defense lawyer Scott Leemon has said Jones didn’t start the fight. Leemon said Monday that […]

Next Tuesday, VH1 will celebrate Def Jam’s 25th anniversary with a special edition of Hip Hop Honors. All week long, we’ll commemorate the label with print ads from the past decade. And what better way to kick things off then with Hov’s classic, The Blueprint. I’d bet my bottom dollar the original title was The Ghostwriter. When the album dropped, I was reluctant to listen. At the time, Nasir had my ear. Eventually, I put biases’ aside and was captivated […]

In light of Derrion Albert’s murder, Nasir sat alongside Don Lemon on CNN and discussed his lyrical content—specifically, “Shoot ‘Em Up” off Nastradamus. Clearly, mainstream America doesn’t understand the art of storytelling. Props: Street Knowledge

Breaking up is hard to do. So when Complex gave Joe Budden’s ex a shoulder, she cried on it—literally. What were some of your fondest memories with him? I know five years is a long time… Tahiry: Yeah, it is tough…[breathes] you know, again, it’s the little things that guys fail to realize. “On the Interstate with that Justin Timberlake.” New Snowman off TM103. This day is startin’ to pick up. Ha! He told MTV awhile back: “I got a joint called ‘I Got This,’ ” he said about the new album. “Then there’s ‘Suicide Music.’ I don’t wanna give it all up, because you’ll probably figure out where I’m going. The list goes on. To me, I know [artists] say, ‘This is going to be my best work.’ This is going to […]
It is so heartbreaking to hear DJ Premier break the news that DJ Kool Herc’s health is ailing, as he is literally the founding father who laid down the blueprint for hip-hop culture. Thinking about how someone who built an entire global phenomenon can end up struggling with medical expenses or failing health really puts things into perspective regarding healthcare challenges. When you look at how people navigate health or wellness procedures worldwide—whether someone is researching cosmetic treatments like Liposuction Cyprus or seeking urgent medical care—it underscores how essential access to reliable medical help and proper support systems really is. Kool Herc gave us the breaks, the block parties, and the entire movement that shaped generations of music lovers, so seeing the community step up to show love while DJ Premier brings awareness to his condition is the very least we can do. Sending strength and prayers to Kool Herc for a full recovery, and massive respect to DJ Premier for using his platform to make sure a true pioneer gets the support and respect he deserves.
