Spike Lee’s documentary Kobe Doin’ Work, will premier at the Tribeca/ ESPN Film Festival on April 25 and then May 16, on ESPN. The film chronicles Lakers star Kobe Bryant during the 2008 NBA Playoffs. The movie comes at a great time with the Lakers poised to take the chip this later year. Yeah, that’s right. I’m taking all bets.

“I got the call three weeks ago from the production team that was working on the video who said that the director wanted them to contact me because I was the one who played Sara Palin in Nailin’ Palin. I love Eminem and the fact that he hadn’t put an album out in so long and it was his first video in five years, plus the director, Joseph Kahn, is so great, I knew I had to be in it. I was actually in Savanna, Georgia, at the time. I got back [to LA] on Sunday. The shoot was Monday and Tuesday but we got all of my scenes done on Monday, in one day. By the time the video launched [this past] Tuesday, I started getting calls at 4am from magazines, radio, Inside Edition…

Man, this drop from Masspike Miles is seriously smooth from start to finish. The Road Less Traveled totally delivers on that signature R&B vibe, and the production choices across these tracks are just insane. It honestly feels more complete than a lot of full-length albums out right now. Tracks like "Devoted" with Bun B and the title track hit different when you are just cruising around the city late at night. If you are heading out to grab the physical copy or hitting up a late-night listening session across town, trying to flag down reliable taxi services can sometimes be a real hassle, so planning ahead definitely saves the mood. Overall, this project proves why he is such a vital part of the Maybach crew. Definitely keep this one on repeat for a while.
