macklemore

I Do.

As 33 couples tied the knot at the Grammys, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed “Same Love” along with Madonna and Queen Latifah. Earlier in the evening, they took home 4 Grammys including Best Rap Album. Congrats!

  • Ibrahima Niang

    Amazing

  • It’s Just Music

pretty sure it looks like macklemore is pushing an agenda.

  • It’s Just Music

looks like macklemore is pushing an agenda

    • Craig

nah the gay agenda is using him to push it to black folks

      • Sam Robilotta

What a dumb statement. Blacks like the song more because it’s a song about gays?

        • Craig

Not what I said. Blacks dont like the song or Macklemore because he is using the gay agenda for publicity purposes only, and it not real hiphop it actually hippop

    • Christopher Hignite

The new ‘cool’ is to try being gay even if you weren’t born that way. Bi-sexuality is the new straight. Without getting into religion, it’s biologically and psychologically unnatural.

      • J

Religion tells you that the first two people on Earth were made out of dirt, and you want to start arguing about biology?

        Sit down.

        • Heff

and that they fucked their family til we all got here

        • Christopher Hignite

Actually, you sit down. The first person on Earth was made of dirt according to religion. The second person, Eve, was made from the first person.

According to the creation myth of Abrahamic religions, she is the first woman created by God (Yahweh, the god of Israel). Her husband was Adam, from whose rib God created her to be his companion.

How can you argue about religion when you don’t even know the simplest facts about Christianity?

          • Jackson

that’s even more ridiculous than both of them being made of dirt

          • Christopher Hignite

Not when you understand that everything is made up of vibrating energy. The Earth, trees, water, humans and animals are all basically made of the same stuff when you go down deep enough. Energy is the only thing that cannot be created nor destroyed just transferred. So…In the beginning was a ball of energy, that energy was God. When the Big Bang happened. God’s energy exploded outward. Everything was created exactly in the order that the Bible tells of in Genesis, out of God (The whole of the Universe’s Energy). Scientists now know that the Universe appears and acts like a giant brain. Well, that’s because it is, it is God. Once you put away humanity’s tendency to view God as a Santa type figure sitting on a cloud and understand the Science of God neither the Bible nor Science disagree with each other. If God is the Universe’s energy there is not one thing mentioned in the Bible that Science would be at odds with. Omniscience, covered, miracles, covered, Creation, covered, virgin birth, covered, heaven and hell, covered, and even souls are covered and Scientifically provable.

          • Katherine

don’t worry there lil guy, you don’t need to feel so threatened by us Christians…you don’t have to believe in God. it’s your choice…that’s the beauty of free agency.

of course, when you die, it might be a bit startling, meeting your Creator…but you can have a heck of a ride until then, right? party on.

          • Christopher Hignite

Genesis is not literal it has to be read and understood by thinking about what it actually means and the time and people it was written for.

        • Christopher Hignite

Intelligent people know that when referring to ‘dirt’ the Bible is actually talking about atoms. Everything is made up of the same stuff and dirt is the most basic of that. When God created Adam and Eve (the first two just for explanation sake) he also created other Adam and Eve’s around the planet. When telling the story so that humans could understand it is simplified. You can think of Adam as Atom and Eve as evolution. This fact is shown when Cain leaves the Garden of Eden and finds a wife in another land who would not exist if God had not created other humans.

      • Sam Robilotta

Wow so ignorant. So you think all these gays getting bullied , beaten and killed cause of discrimination and fucking dumb as people out here are thinking, hey at least we are cool right!? Ok

        • Christopher Hignite

No more gays get bullied, beaten or killed than fat kids, nerds, narcs or black kids just because they looked at a cop wrong. I think we tend to exaggerate the dangers of being gay in the 21st century.

          • j

tell that the russians you ignorant cunt

          • Christopher Hignite

It’s rare in Russia as well and somehow I don’t think the Grammy’s were aimed at Russians.

        • kizzy

stop putting words in people’s mouths

        • Turtleyo

Yes because straight people don’t get bullied at all right? I hate when people play the victim,

    • Truth hurts

Macklemore & Lewis’ wins, which include best rap song and rap performance for “Thrift Shop,” come after the Grammy rap committee almost ousted the duo from its categories. A source told The Associated Press that the rap committee rejected the duo, but that was later overruled by the general Grammy committee. The source, who attended the general Grammy meeting, spoke on the condition of anonymity because the meeting was private.

  • Jav

    Politics as usual.

Kendrick got robbed. You see his face when they gave it to daft punk?

    • Sam Robilotta

Kendrick cd was good, but reality it had 4 good songs and wasn’t as good as Macklemore sorry bro Grammys were right.

      • Jav

4 good songs? Please explain the way you critique a song when deciding whether or not it’s good.

      • heruthagod

        Gtfoh

      • Jburg

4 good songs?! Man you need to learn how to listen to music. This fucking guy man, I can’t.

      • Da Business

        This guy….

  • Da Business

    Speechless…

  • Jburg

    Hip Hop loses…….

  • Christopher Hignite

So, now I should feel bad if I’m not gay? Also, if gays don’t want Christianity pushed on them, they should in turn not push anti-Christianity on others. Macklemore and Madonna were blatantly mocking and dissing Christianity.

    • Dan Karlin

Who’s asking you to feel bad? I’m not gay either, but I hardly consider homosexuality to be “anti Christianity”. Macklemore and Madonna weren’t “mocking and dissing” Christianity. If anything, they were calling out the people who try and use the bible as leverage to put down people for being who they are.

      • Sam Robilotta

Hahha yeah this guy is buggin and it why these guys made this song. Yeah cool to be gay lol ok.

      • kizzy

Macklemore stereotyped Christians. as hateful. And who they are? what the heck… lol

        • Dan Karlin

“Being who they are” as in loving who they love, dressing how they want to dress, not having to change anything about their personality for the sake of pleasing/not offending a certain person or group of people. (Wow, I didn’t realize I’d have to spell that one out, but whatever.)

Christians weren’t being stereotyped – At no point is anything negative said about Christianity, and I don’t think the word “Christian” was used even once within that performance, or in the studio version of that song. The song goes at people who use select, out of context sections of the bible as an excuse to pass judgment on people who are different from them. Those aren’t Christians- they’re ignorant douchebags.

          • kizzy

He accuses of them preaching hate and compares gay marriage to the black struggle, which isn’t even close, but whatever, dude.

          • Christopher Hignite

            Amen.

      • Christopher Hignite

They absolutely were mocking Christianity. Madonna wore an outfit that was a cross between a priestess and a witch with an masonic cross on her neck. They set the background as a stained glass cathedral. Macklemore states ‘why should we listen to a 3000 year old book. The constant repeating of No Crying on Sunday is meant to say they aren’t going to let church make them feel guilty. This was all followed by a blatantly satanic performance by Katy Perry. Katy Perry also wore an illuminated masonic cross, upside down, on her dress. Only about 2-6% of the population is homosexual but the Grammy’s and the mainstream media try to make it appear that it’s more like 30-40%. People mimic what they see in the media. The agenda is to try to get high school and college age kids to experiment with bi-sexuality. That is far beyond promoting tolerance, it is an attempt to promote their own agenda.

  • brza

I understand that a Grammy doesn’t make or break the artist but Kendrick losing Best Rap Album to the these 2 is mind boggling?! gkmc is truly a work of art. very disappointing

    • Sam Robilotta

Sorry so was the heist. Guess he shouldn’t of came out with his same year. Happento Justin Timberlake too!

      • brza

        keep drinking the Kool-Aid

      • Jesus Ernesto Alejos

        the heist isnt hiphop tho

  • Dan Karlin

Hip hop, like any other musical genre, is ever-evolving. It either does that, or the genre truly will die. Part of the whole point and attitude that’s widespread among hip hop is being proud of who you are, and saying “fuck off” to anyone who can’t and won’t accept that. Why is this particular issue any different?

I also believe Kenrick got robbed with the Rap Album category — shit, even Macklemore knows and publicly acknowledges this — but that aside, you can’t hate on this performance. This was kind of a big deal. People will be talking about it years from now.

  • DJ Game

    Fuck this faggotry.

    • Sam Robilotta

      very intelligent comment.

  • Ryuk918

Really disgusted at all of the homophobic comments here. But not at all surprised that hip hop is still uber homophobic. Really sad actually. I don’t care for M&RL’s music but definitely dig their message. Pushing an agenda? Of what? Acceptance?

    • It’s Just Music

you have to call an ace an ace and an agenda an agenda.

i said nothing about gay rights or anything cause i personally don’t fucking care, but you really can’t see an agenda here?

this is the grammys, and macklemore had thrift shop and can’t hold us to perform as they are bigger hits than this song, and he chose to perfom this instead.

Look how far he is pushing it too.
Christianity simply does not promote this behavior
Yet you have a choir, macklemore symbolized as a pastor (suited up, behind him a stained glass window and ‘preaching’ in front of a crowd)

you don’t have to be homophobic or pro gay to not see the man is clearly pushing an agenda.

      • Christopher Hignite

The entire setup was meant not just to push the agenda but to demean and poke fun of Christianity. I am not sure if Macklemore meant for it to be taken that far or if it was Madonna’s or the show’s idea. His song isn’t overly attacking Christianity but when combined with the rest of the show, the suit, the stained glass windows it was definitely a dig on Christianity.

    • kizzy

      shut up

      • Ryuk918

That’s a great retort. You really opened my mind, “Kizzy”. I think i’ll be such a more enlightened person now.

        • kizzy

          You’re welcome :)

  • http://Twitter.com/SkiMizzou Ski Mizzou

Wow i know hip hop is suppose to speak on the issues, but this is what everybody is doing now? A kid who isnt using any political statements whatsoever and delivered a classic album got snubbed because of a pro gay rights radical who isnt even that great at rapping smh not a homophobe just know injustice when i see it.

    • disqus_hw1Jo2tPXQ

Speaking out for equality is not the radial political statement. Hip-Hop is about voicing your opinion, its social commentary. Macklemore raps about this because its something that affects him in one way or another. Tupac saw young girls getting pregnant so he made ‘Brenda’s Got a Baby.’ Macklemore saw gay people being treated unfairly so he made ‘Same Love.’

Just because you disagree with who won doesn’t mean you have to demonize Macklemore’s music.

      • http://Twitter.com/SkiMizzou Ski Mizzou

I didnt demonize his wack ass music. So forcing ppl to watch damn near 30 same sex couples get married on stage isnt radical. Forcing shit on ppl is what i dont fuck wit. If any rapper were to take there social commentary to the stage and did some crazy shit like that they probably get banned from the grammys. Least eminem performed with elton john he didnt have folks getting married on stage. And i dont kno anybody who brought macklemores album and everybody knows gkmc is the better album. He won because of the gay agenda not because his album is better than kendricks which it is not.

      • http://Twitter.com/SkiMizzou Ski Mizzou

And as far as Tupac making Brendas Got A Baby, teen preganacy is a majority black inner city problem, not a sensational issue like gay rights. Personally nobody doesnt feel like same sex couples shouldnt have rights, but they cant expect everybody to just accept that. You want rights go get them all for it. You wanna get married and be miserable like straight couples be my guest. Everybody knows macklemore had no business winning those grammys over kendrick. His music is more pop than rap which gives him a bigger audience, but it doesnt make his album better than the pure rap album GKMC is.

      • Turtleyo

Macklemore only made that song to get famous right now. If he believed so much in gay rights, he would have made it a long time ago.

    • Christopher Hignite

Absolutely. How convenient he wins when it is essential to the agenda that night that his song promote the ceremony and following Satanic ritual by Katy Perry.

  • timechange

Europeans and Kazars continue to push their gay agenda, lol.
acceptance? so now you’re vilified if your dont accept the unnatural,
    in 20 years Europens will be pushing Human and Animal love ‘my doggy loves me,we want to get married;

  • YouGonEatYourCornbread

WAAA ..keep the comments coming cause they’re not gonna stop the fact the Macklemeore beat everyone… 4 awards..must be a fluke!

    • Strong Enough

  • THE REAL mac DIESEL

THE GAY AGENDA WON LAST NIGHT ESPECIALLY WITH THE HELPING HAND OF THE SWINDLER NAMED MACKLEMORE!!!! WELCOME BACK ELVIS!!!! WE MISSED YOU!!!! #THESHEIST
    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

    • badizzle

      I love Mac Diesel…*no homo*…lol
…no pun intended……he keeps it real

  • badizzle

A lot of people don’t understand how the Grammys work and are judged. Its the riaa, an association of people who went to school for music. So you may have a “stuffy” music engineer with a degree that has to vote on the hip hop category and doesn’t listen or know how to critique hip hop and furthermore who has never heard of Kendrick. But, has heard of macklemore because of all the radio airplay. The example I give is when people go to the polls to vote and they don’t know all the candidates, they just vote on whoever because they don’t know. Lol…..the riaa votes well on rock, jazz, and classical because those forms of music are the same AND that’s what you study in music 101 in school, not hip hop.

  • Sun Zoo

I don’t give a damn about a god damn grammy!!
