Diddy’s Son Criticized For Scholarship

Last fall, Diddy’s oldest son Justin, accepted a full scholarship to play football at UCLA. Now six months later, local tax payers are calling for Justin to forfeit his endowment due to his father’s net worth.

This is just stupid. With a 3.75 GPA, Justin earned his ride fair and square. It’s not his fault his pops can cop Maybachs like white-tees. Here’s to sticking it to the man.

  1. DirkDiggler says:

I highly doubt this kid 100% earned that GPA… athletes are always given special treatment, even in high school.

  2. Nymfo1 says:

even though it would be nice if he gave back the money because he can already afford a college education, he shouldn’t have to give back something he earned and worked hard for. Why penalize someone for working hard and obtaining a scholarship just because his dad is super rich, The’re not the same person and his accomplishments are his own and shouldn’t be linked with his dad and his money.

  3. JD says:

IDGAF this nigga is gonna be rich anyways with or without college

  4. Capricorn Religion says:

    That’s, that bullshit….

Keep it moving people. I wish a motherfucker would try an take My son’s hard EARNED scholarship..

  5. robstarrk says:

you think he’s the only rich kid to ever earn a scholarship… rich kids get full rides to play golf at ivy league schools… diddy is an ass imo but this is unfair

  6. Carlito says:

now that’s crazy. i can see how some less fortunate and less financially stable students/parents could get salty just based on the fact of who his dad is, but tax payers money doesn’t even go towards athletic scholarships. they’re funded by profit from ticket sales, media contracts/endorsements, corporate partnerships etc. he earned that full ride. point blank.

  7. Kemosabi says:

I definitely see the other side here. He shouldn’t have too but wouldn’t it be the right thing to do considering only so many students get the free ride and they can clearly afford it? Either way it’s a great thing for Justin

  8. gator says:

u get scholarships with 3.75 gpa in the states? like what the hell that is so low. u wouldnt get to a common high school with that in eastern europe 😀

  9. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

Hold on ! Diddy aka Career Killer. Was at King of Diamonds making it RAIN with DJ Khaled the video is on RR. Yet the tax paying people to have pay his tab smh.

  10. The Other P says:

UCLA is a pac 12 bottom feeder. The smart thing to do would be to give the ‘ship to another player to help his future squard.

  11. Black Shady says:

Rich Ass Kids shouldnt be able to get scholarships period…how bout that

  12. Uptown says:

Quincy has earned the recognition, however, this seems to be more of a character development issue.

    Was the scholarship earned? YES
Was accepting the scholarship the right choice? NO
Could the award money have been donated to another student who is equally deserving but less endowed financially? YES

    Moral choice, ethical choice, CHARACTER!

  13. Why So Serious says:

His dad is a rapper/black entrepreneur, im so surprised!!

  14. Faded says:

I went to Iona Prep with Justin, and he earned the scholarship to UCLA his grades were uptight, but he sucks at football and will get rocked at UCLA

  15. Kunta Kente says:

Damn B. Dot get this niggas dick… Maybe he should give back, is he even that good? Remember the famous kid of a rapper to accept a athletic scholarship. Yea Lil’ Romeo when he went USC, he played a total of 3 minutes for 2 seasons and then quit. What a fucking waist!

  16. Citylivin' says:

“Diddy’s self made…Sean Combs is self made”…..Diddy is foolish if he doesn’t use this as a soundbite on a song.

  17. 50 Cent says:

Didn’t Officer William and Wale bitch ass play football at Community College

  18. Jungle says:

This is bullshit let the boy have his scholarship

  19. Your mother's "friend" says:

I can see a lot of highschool dropouts commenting on this post, as much as this may seem like a free ride it’s not at all, quite the contrary. The kid is gonna have to put in 40 hour(probably more) weeks plus he earned it regardless of who his father is , i think most of you are just jealous that a kid who seemingly has it all is smarter & works harder than you

  20. MELODY says:

Its funny how hiphop is so quick to defend a hard working Justin Combs for earning a scholarship even though his father can afford it, but this happens everyday with democrats on republicans and hip hop is so quick to jump fences. SMFH.

  21. Trillionaire says:

SMFH…FUCK THOSE “local tax payers”…PEOPLE KILL ME WITH THIS SHIT. America is in trillions of dollars worth of debt and these assholes talking about tax money…shut the fuck up. Have can any grown person try and stop a kid that rightfully earned a scholarship from receiving it? I about to bump Trick Daddy “Amerikkka” for a day…cuz its obvious money or no money “you still a nigga”..ha!

  22. Jo Jo Simmons says:

    I hate rich kids

  23. Memphis Bleek says:

That BITCH Blue Ivy will get a free ride to Harvard.

  24. .... says:

why do they have to make a big deal about it…they could of privately asked him to forfeit it
the tutiton is less then the car diddy bought for him on his sixteen birthday

  25. B.Dot that lil nigga rich as fuck…He don’t need a scholarship,Fuck all that….Diddy can pay for EVERYBODY tution in that university LITERALLY!!

  26. Bill Gates says:

    Give it back!

  27. The Truth says:

Jay-Z got Rap Radar employees fucking SHOOK

  28. I don’t think he should give it back. He earned it and he needs to see that daddy isn’t gonna pay for everything. BUT diddy should give a less fortunate kid a scholarship to the same school. He should pay for a poor kid with a high GPA to go.

  29. Rich youngman says:

Let him have it we do it all the time (white people). I have a 3.75 and going to Duke on a full ride and my dad is rich so what, we earned it the hard way. Studying and playing football so stop hateing on us rich kids.

  30. Anon DCPL says:

Fuck you rich bitch ass kids all together. This lil nigga will probably play one full half his whole career there.

I laugh at that fuckin 3.75 gpa. I wanna know how many of those were honors & AP.

Sean Combs better donate 2 mill or open up a college fund for low income kids in the LA area.

  31. JD says:

Hid dads an intentional public figure so that’s who we have available in the discourse. They shouldn’t make him give it back, but it would be classy. He’s not sticking it to anyone but someone else who could get it. Of course he earned it, and everyone knows he earned it, so donate what your father has as chump change and let someone in need rock with it.

  32. Phil says:

Not really sure why you want him to “stick it to the man” — as if the country’s racist, or something.

Virtually the entire country is broke due to overspending, so why would you intentionally milk out more when you can clearly afford it. Plus, let’s be honest: his Dad can afford it. Isn’t the right thing to do to return it and let someone who can’t, get into college?

I’m not saying he has to, I’m just pointing out it may be the right thing to do.

  33. TD Cruze says:

It should’ve been given to a poor kid who deserved it just as much. We already know Diddy’s son has a free life, why give him a free ride? It’s just a waste of a scholarship.

  34. Acapella says:

Thats total bullshit. I’m pretty sure they didn’t do that to Romeo and Master P when he got accepted to USC or Vanessa and Rev Run when she went to St. John. Now the government is jus on that weak shit, str8 up.

  35. G says:

I remember that this happened with Denzel’s son. He was offered a scholarship but turned it down because Denzel said he was blessed to be able to pay out of pocket for his tuition. This is exactly what Diddy should do but won’t. On a related note, anyone here know if he was recruited by actual elite football schools? I would guess not because if he was really good USC would have offered him a scholarship in a second.

  36. Rocsi From 106 & Park says:

3.75 GPA lmfao… I mean thats good I guess for a black kid

  37. Cal says:

That’s cool and all that he earned it, but scholarships are typically for people who DON’T have the money to attend a university. So no, you selfish fuck, you shouldn’t have accepted the scholarship, you should have thanked them for considering you but insisted it go to someone who needs it. You still get to go to school and play football. Greedy mother fuckers.

  38. Dewan says:

I thought that was Al B Sure’s youngin’? Though I’m thinking he might be one of Rick Fox’s seeds. Anyway, he earned the ‘ship. There’s plenty of rich white kids that do the same. Look at the golf, tennis, hockey, or cross-country teams.

  39. deez says:

FUCK OUTTA HERE..diddy give that mufuckin scholarship to some athlete who actually NEEDS IT. U FUKING CLOWN MUFUCKA PROLLY PAID THE COACHES AND THE PLAYERS TO MAKE SURE UR SON SCORED TOUCHDOWNS AND MADE ENOUGH HIGHLIGHTS JUST TO GET INTO UCLA..IN A FEW YEARS JUST THINK DIDDY GNNA PAY OFF REFS AND SOON ENOUGH JUSTIN WILL BE IN THE NFL DRAFT WHEN HE PROLLY A SHIT PLAYER..WHOS GONNA TACKLE P.DIDDYS SON THEY PROLLY LIKE YO CAN U GET ME SOME AUTOGRAPHS AS HE RUNS PAST EM….HA!

  40. joethaplumber says:

A free scholarship to my school is just that, “FREE”!!!!!!! It doesn’t cost $500 to make those books but they charge you that anyways. Those prices are over inflated as hell.

  41. Jaymalls says:

This nigga earned it… He didn’t just bullshit through high school! Niggas need to stop hating n get on their job. Look how many niggas get financial aid… You don’t think rich students don’t get mad at that??? Their tax money is paying the majority of that… And the people recieving that money don’t even have to take 1 test to be on it!

  42. truth says:

all of yall mother cunt. suck your mother with a straw

  43. Steve says:

I see the problem here, but give it to another deserving kid. He earned it, but that doesn’t mean he should get it. He has plenty of other things that millions of other kids will never have.

  44. ben_dover says:

Rich white kids get scholarships all the time…..

  45. Word says:

I saw this on a previous website. Diddy should just let his kid keep the 50k, and just donate the money to whatever fund the local tax payers want him to just so everybody can go to school.

Diddy can afford it so why not? This reminds me of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air episode where Will won that check at a club fair and square, and they wanted him to give all the money back. Will just donated the money to that less fortunate kid, and his uncle wrote a check back to the foundation. Everyone won.

Denzel was in this same situation too. Know what he did? He declined the scholarship so other kids can go to college too. Thats class. Theres plenty of ways to go about this so everyone wins. I think Diddy should either return the cash, or at least donate some cash so other kids can get to school too. Lets not be greedy. Dude can get to school without the money. Shit, dude might not even use ALL the money anwyay. He might just wipe his ass with it, or blow it on a car or something and just get Diddy to pay for the tuition anyway.

B.Dot, I think you taking this “stick it to the man thing” too far. Sticking it to the man might mean some kids cant attend college. That aint a good look. Lets just all be fair with this situation.

  46. Gab says:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC95pkQ_HLQ Check out my music video and let me know what you think @GabDontSayMuch

  47. Word says:

    Cosign @Phil and @Anon DCLP

And yall saying a 3.75 GPA is weak, yall know thats on a 4.0 scale right? Cuz a 3.75 could be 4 As and a B, which is pretty fucking good. I dont know where you know it alls get off calling a 3.75 GPA weak. A 4.0 is only .25 better than a 3.75. WOW. Yall tripping over .25? Ignorant folks on this site. I’ll take 4 As and a B over some of these other GPAs athletes get by with! Shit, Derrick Rose didnt even take his own SAT!

  48. ok of he earned the scholarship thats good for him but at the end of the day he can afford it and he couldve have given the scholarship to the kid who was closest to getting it after him

  49. FukUrOpinion says:

This is just stupid. We’re overly critical of everything nowadays. Dude earned his scholarship and obviously if UCLA offered it to him he’s a decent athlete. I think he’s being a man and not wanting his father to pay for his education. To me that’s noble because he doesn’t want to fall back on Diddy’s money. He could’ve been a mediocre student and relied on Pops to foot the bill, but he earned his education. Why should he forfeit it? This is what’s wrong with our society. Yes there are kids who are less fortunate that need scholarships, but some of these kids don’t give two shits about school. Those that do usually do get scholarships. Plus it’s one scholarship, UCLA awards 285 scholarships annually to students. Smh get over it

    FUK YOUR OPINION!

  50. Don says:

Here’s to sticking it to the man?

Do you know who has a problem with this? It’s students that only can afford school only through loans. They see some kid who’s dad is worth half a billion and can afford to pay for his son’s education (shit the car he got for his 16th can pay for 6 years worth of school alone) getting a scholarship and of course they’re going to be pissed.

  51. trickler says:

Honestly a 3.75 GPA is pretty low to receive a full merit scholarships. There are probably kids with much higher gpa’s at UCLA who get nothing

  52. sway-z says:

All those rich white kids who’s parents are Doctors, Lawyers & Bankers do the same thing, only difference is they Pops ain’t hitting niggas with Champagne bottles and getting into shootouts in Nightclubs. Take that, take that…

  53. County Of Kings says:

why hate the player, when u should be hating the game. the scholarship program is designed like this and he was given the scholarship. dont be mad at them for taking what he worked hard for.
just like politicians that find tax loop holes all the fuckin time to keep their wealth and spending down. thats how the rich stay rich, the wealthy stay wealthy. if its such a big fucking problem then change the rules so that families have to report their income before they can be offered a scholarship. until then stop bitchin, he played by the rules now niggas mad cuz he winning? he didnt cheat the system, the system is designed so that white ppl can take advantage of it, now since a black man has found the loop hole or watever its a problem now? hate the game, not the player
diddy is a business man!!! and if this will save him money fuck it i dont have a problem wit it.

it would be a great p.r. move to match the funds and give it to one deserving kid, but thats all, dont give the school shit fuck that school, give it to a kid that deserves it and its a win win and a great look for diddy, but if he dont, its all good he dont have to give nothin back.

  54. oakland73rd says:

scholarships should be for kids that cant afford college IMO he should of turned it down and gave it to some one else that is less fortunate and 3.7 i thought having a 4.0 was the best but i guess not in this case he could easily afford college with out the scholarship

  55. Derek says:

he earned it. what’s it matter to any of you? whine all you want about how “unfair” it but try focusing on yourself for once.

  56. mac DIESEL says:

HE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO GIVE BACK SHIT!!!! HE EARNED IT!!!! THESE RICH CRACKERS BE DOIN’ THE SAME SHIT!!!! BUT AS A NICE GESTURE, HE SHOULD GIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP BACK TO SHOW CLASS AND CHARACTER!!!! HE ALREADY PROVED HE EARNED IT!!!! GIVE TO THE LESS FORTUNATE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  57. No Romeo paid his way thru dumbass. That’s how other good athletes get to play at the same time. Especially if you already have money. Makes no sense.

  58. tucq says:

If he earned it, he deserves it…… because what if he had a shitty relationship with his rich father, and his father didn’t want to pay?……. you gota make your own way in this world and at least this kid ain’t no lazy mf.

  59. Young Lucky says:

how the fuck is this wrong? lil nigga is saying fuck my pops money, and going out and getting HIS! besides, UCLA is gonna bank off of all the press from justin anyways. more than likely they pursued him anyways. So let him take what he can get from em!!

  60. Jon Hart says:

Hello people. Remember scholarships lure students to school. Come play for me, come get your education here. So for ever reason, UCLA wants Mr. Combs to be alma mata if he can graduate. They should be paying for him, just like they do every other deserving student. Remember if Mr. Combs pays, lil combs can then pick any school he chooses and it may not be UCLA.

  61. Gizzabe says:

Stuttering ass ho….. Homeboy earned that shit.

  62. Gizzabe says:

Dude EARNED IT! homeboy EARNED it!

  63. dro says:

you can’t give the scholly back if your a football player the minute a school declares you a footballplayer you are on a ship

  64. Freddy Long says:

I can tell you coons know nothing about how college works. Diddy will donate way more than that scholarship over time. It is merit-based meaning there are certain criterion needed to attain it. He just can’t give it away. Second, people who with way more money than Diddy wouldn’t pay that tuition if they don’t have to.

  65. original Will says:

I dont care if its a scholarship at least let it be a scholarship you earn if it was based on academics ill be all for the young man to get that scholly but its athletic based his son is a 5’9″ corner who did ok in a prep school league while niggas in the hood who are the same size same position better stats didnt even recieve an offer from UCLA upone hearing about this im thought his son was a baller so i look up his stats the kid has like 1 interception on the entire season and he gets a scholarship from UCLA while i watch who have 6 or 7 int numerous of big plays against top rank schools be subjected to comm college schools like Santa Monica or West L.A. so yes Diddy did what Percey did for his son to get that full ride to SC after avg 7 pts n 2 asst a game at beverly hills High Diddy had to buy that scholarship for his son if his kid had better stats then yea i would believe it but ur primary position is cornerbacc n u have 1 int for the season u dont deserve a full ride to an out of town college like that

so i see why these parents are pissed cuz u got ray ray who just went all city division in L.A. for the 4th time not even get an offer for an athletic scholarship while Diddy(#1 in Forbes) son who just started playing varsity ball last year get a full ride its not right

its just like what Romeo and Master P did to get him at SC Romeo sorry ass not even seeing 10 points a game getting invitation to ABCD Camps and shit shit that nothing but future NBA players and All American players get invitations to and Romeo Miller who was coming off the bench at Beverly Hills High is with him

    FUCC OUTTA HERE *Eddie Voice*

  66. original Will says:

and if its based off academic a 3.75 thats admission for most california residents to get into UCLA thas a good ass school My roommate’s sister just graduated from a private school in Atlanta head of her class with a 4.2(Yes its possible to get over a 4.0 in highschool) and while she have a scholarship their parents still have to pay out of poccet so Diddy son getting a full ride off of 3.75 its kind of questionable especially since alot of my peers(Who are california Residents) had to get somewhere around there just for admission and the basic aid i cant imagine an out of state academic scholly being that big especially with the situation just heard from my roommate

  67. Mr.November says:

First of all, scholarships are not for kids who are poor. They are a way to recruit good students.
    2. They can give full ride for a 3.75 GPA, a lot of schools do around 3.4 and up.
    3. Its not JUST grades, its football as well (if he is at least average, it helps a bad school)
    4. Its not that big a deal. Someone is getting it or not getting it.
    5. He is #1 in forbes for just hip hop, (doesn’t include the big businesses, just rappers)
    6. Its NOT taxpayer money
    7. If it was, he still has to pay for books and that should be punishment enough
    8. If he wants to keep a FULL RIDE scholarship he HAS to keep his grades up or he loses it.
    9. If he keeps it he deserves it, point blank.

  68. Mr.November says:

Rutgers and NJIT are rival schools in Jersey depending on major and Rutgers had the easier scholarship.
If you were varsity in a school sport, you needed 3.4+ to get a scholarship (Full) and you have to do more for your school, like future business leader clubs and all that. (Not have to but they recommend)
NJIT said 3.6 and up. I got partial for a 3.3 and it is 28K a year if you live in state and dorm there. They gave 14K a year if I kept above a 3.0 GPA for Mechanical Engineering.

2year varsity (football 2, baseball 1), 3.2x (rounded to 3.3) GPA, and decent 1820 SAT got me 14K. Work hard and you get it.

Niggas act like this shit is easy. FOH

  69. paulalovesmusic says:

This scholarship is based on MERIT therefore he is entitled to it. If you’re poor and have a 2.5 you still couldn’t get it!!

  70. Pimp Squad Raw says:

Fuck this kid and fuck Ivy Blue (DONT REMOVE MY REPLY YOU OL AZZ YELLOW AZZ NIGGA). Beyonce was a bigger ho than RiRi is now, Jigga you know thisssssssss.

  71. Tone says:

Last time I checked, scholarships are for ACADEMICS. These stupid fucks are getting confused with FINANCIAL AID. BIG FUCKING DIFFERENCE. It’s not like he’s receiving financial aid while his daddy is living your life and his life AT THE SAME DAMN TIME. Go head lil homie, keep up the great work and let these hatin ass niggas keep hatin.

  72. Ghini says:

YO HE WENT TO IONA PREP IN NEW ROCHELLE ONE OF TOP ACADEMICALLY HIGH SCOOLS IN WESTCHESTER THE YOUNGIN EARN IT IF PUFF WANTS TO PAY HIS OWN SCHOOLING SO BE IT BUT JUSTIN EARN IT FAIR AND SQUARE STOP WIT THE BITCHIN AND STOP WAISTIN TIME ON SHH DAT HAS NO REFLECTION ON NONE OF YALL

  73. Kia says:

Why are people clocking how much Diddy makes/donates. Damn.

  74. quest says:

Taxpayers didn’t even pay for that scholarship. The coach released a statement saying it’s all privately funded. How can you have an opinion on something you didn’t contribute to?

  75. Marko-V says:

This is another example of angry white people in action.
    @remarkoble1
    http://www.reverbnation.com/c./poni/114874287

  76. ghostfacter says:

let’s say the tax payer’s money paid for this kids scholarship. don’t you forget that his Dad pays like 1000x more taxes than the average american. if his son deservs to benefit from his taxes, he should.

  77. WUWEAR says:

NIGGAS BE LIKE, “HE SHOULD GIVE IT BACK”- THEN WALK OUT THE DOOR TO CASH THEIR WELFARE CHECK. IT’S THE FIRST OF THE MONTH Y’ALL!!! TIME TO SIT ON THE PORCH AND DRINK!!!

  78. Yea thats ridiculous theres others who need that money i know he earned it and all but come his pops is the 3rd richest in hiphop
