This is what’s missing from Hip Hop today! I know that this may be viewed as me living in the past but what I wouldn’t give to have artists like this back in the mainstream. We have Kendrick, Cole and Lupe etc but ATCQ made Hip Hop fun. Not to say that these artists aren’t but it’s a different time

When I saw “A Tribe Called Quest “Bonita Applebum [Pharrell Remix]” I haven’t been that excited for a headline in a really long time.
With that said, I was disappointed. Maybe I’m too much of a purist and don’t believe in people manipulating classic hip-hop tracks. Especially when most of the these tracks are sampled from classic soul/jazz records already.
This sound Pharrell-ish. And it sounds Tribe-ish. It just doesn’t blend well.
Still excited for the Cole remix.
