Kodak Black was released from a federal prison outside of Chicago on Wednesday (Jan. 20) after being pardoned by former president Donald Trump.

The 23 year-old rapper completed half of the 46-month sentence which he was given to serve for falsifying paperwork while attempting to purchase a firearm in 2019.

Kodak Black was among the 143 pardons that were granted clemency during Trump’s final hours in office including Lil Wayne, Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, Death Row Records co-founder Michael Harry-O Harris, and more.

After his release, Kodak Black took to his Twitter account to thank Trump and his fellow supporters. “I Want To Thank The President @RealDonaldTrump For His Commitment To Justice Reform And Shortening My Sentence. I Also Want To Thank Everyone For Their Support And Love. It Means More Than You Will Ever Know. I Want To Continue Giving Back, Learning And Growing. @DanScavino”

Although he’s currently a free man, the 23-year-old rapper still has a felony charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct in South Carolina. TMZ reports prosecutors are still proceeding with the pending case for his alleged rape of an 18-year-old woman in a hotel room in 2016. If convicted, he’s facing up to 30 years in prison.
